Sugar Waffle's Journal, 29 April 2016

Words of wisdom from obesity research Yoni Freedhoff, MD: "My weight management philosophy has always been rather straightforward - whatever you choose to do to lose your weight, you need to keep doing to keep it off, and therefore choosing a weight loss modality you don't enjoy is just a recipe for regain. ... There is one essential commonality for those who succeed where others fail - if you're going to keep it off you've got to like how you've lost it enough to keep doing it." ~~~~~~~ I like to use the word release instead of lose. Notice that the word food wasn't even mentioned?

Precis' reply to Detrinan's post Believe it or Not is awesome! I'll keep that in mind, no pun intended. So there is another benefit to studying, burn calories

Yes, I agree Carmen. I just love thinking about all the other possibilities that can help us reach our goals with joy and enthusiasm. Not feeling like we have to sacrifice to obtain it and maintain it

Good point, in order to keep doing it, it has to be sustainable.

Words of wisdom. I totally agree, it must be a lifestyle you enjoy and embrace whole heartedly.

This even applies to if we see something in somebody we don't like, it's in us also. We are reflections of each other. That's where I come to a conclusion that every single person is valuable. Even if we don't agree with them, there is always a lesson to learn. Usually about ourselves.

Your quote this morning is so very very true for me. I aim for simple, sustainable and satisfying.

A thing to keep in mind, fat cells don't go away, they shrink. I like to think every bite I eat that they don't like shrinks the little buggers.

I really like what Dr. Freedhoff has to say: getting back to my childhood way of eating -- especially since the forebears who used to give me grief for eating ONLY WHEN I WAS HUNGRY have all crossed the Rainbow Bridge -- will doubtless release a few more pounds, but what matters most to me is that I feel GOOD, I feel like myself, when eating that way. Thank you for the quote!

I agree with that completely. Do many cut calories and exercise for hours every day, then when they lose the weight it's back to the old way of eating and forget the exercise . it's not magic.

Great post, SW, and six posts above, I really like that one, too, " This even applies to if we see something in somebody we don't like, it's in us also. We are reflections of each other. That's where I come to a conclusion that every single person is valuable. Even if we don't agree with them, there is always a lesson to learn. Usually about ourselves." I really try to embrace that line of thinking.

Good post Sugarwaffle, very true but so many of us are looking for the easy solution.

Thanks, Sugar Waffle. The validates my thoughts as I switched my diet a bit a few weeks ago because I was thinking the LC would not work long term for me. I am okay with what I am doing now, so I hope I continue to lose!
