Why margarine? New science states that REAL butter is so healthy! Did you know that margerine was invented to fatten turkeys? When it started killing them, they started feeding it to us. Seriously.. lol.

I use real butter also, no fake stuff! Try it, you'll like it!

And you are absolutely right about Margarine and Butter.

Ditch the margarine.

Sure Scalewatcher3. As time permits please Fed-Ex to my residence 10 pounds of Butter for the year. Please feel free to use your PayPal account as I have no objections as to your manner of payment for my 10lbs of butter. Very Truly Yours, Stephen.

10 lbs a year?? Is that all...lol. I was ordering Kerry Gold online, but after some DEEP digging, I found it less than half price ($3.49) at Lowes Food Store about 40 minutes from my house. Well worth the drive! Good luck with your journey!

This is my first time on here. Why are people so judgmental? Does it really matter that Stephen eats margarine instead of butter? It's his preference and if it is working for him congrats! Everyone is a critic these days...

Just a helpful tip, if you would like. Instead of the English muffin try this instead: Ezekial 4:9 Sprouted Whole Grain English Muffins. It's a slow burning carb that will not spike your blood sugar like regular breads. Also, it has .5g of fat, 15g Carbs, 0g Sugar, and a whopping 4g of Protein per HALF SLICE. The second thing I would do is drop the orange. Try apples, strawberries, or melon. They have less sugar and they still taste great. Little tweaks like that should help you achieve your goal faster

Mama..., it's not called being judgmental. It's called support in that if someone was knowledgeable of something that MAYBE I wasn't, I'd want then to share the knowledge. If Stephen wants to eat margarine that's his decision. I just like to help people make INFORMED decisions, and would expect no less of my buddies.

Do0d, have you tested that theory personally?

I wouldn't call that support...

Perhaps Stephen doesn't want to lose faster, speed isn't everything. Don't presume he hasn't made an informed choice about what he eats. Way to go Stephen! I salute you :D

Jenny, there definitely are some fruits that are more friendly than others. I have diabetes in the family and the lower sugar (berries, melons) work better with it than grapes, apples, bananas, oranges, the really sweet stuff. There's a GI scale that helps us figure out which ones work better to keep the blood sugar more stable.

Mama, really? I guess you have your idea of helpful support, and I have mine. Stephen, let me say I am sorry if my comment came off judgemental. I have a really bad habit of researching and sharing what I have learned. Penlan, not everything is about weight loss. Some of us do care about our health, and the health of our buddies. I agree, newnormal, I enjoy berries myself from time to time. Again, Stephen, if I offended you in any way, shape, or form please accept my apologies!

I agree, the use of GI and GL information is more then useful, from whatever dietary perspective, and for all food. To dismiss any food out of hand without considering both those aspects together is foolhardy and misinformed, IMO. Just looking at GI alone isn't enough, it has to be taken hand in hand with GL, as well as the food's preparation, raw vs cooked.

FatGirlJenny, researching and sharing is no bad habit. My weight is part of my health and my good health is the most important thing I have in my life.
