New year, new me, new scale....

I decided that while the number of the scale is not my primary goal, I did want to be able to accurately track my weight loss and I felt that my older scale was not up to par! Boy was I right, there was nearly a 7 pound difference in the two number (and not in the right direction I might add)! The new scale also tracks BMI, fat %, and hydration. This morning was eye opening as far as my hydration. Women should be at about 50% and my number was 35%! Guess that means I will be watching my fluid intake today (and calories)!

My primary goal is to have a healthier lifestyle and to be more active. To reach that goal I purchased a Fitbit for Christmas and have been wearing it ever since! I don't trust the stairs tracking - yesterday it said I did 34 flights of stairs and I know that should be closer to 8-10 - but the step counter is fairly consistent. I am also logging back on here to track my calories to maintain a healthier lifestyle. My hope is that with better choices, the number on the scale will move in a downward direction.

My biggest challenge is finding time to be active during the week. I work full time in an office, am a single mom with a 2.5 yo, and do not have the time to go to a gym (do to childcare or lack thereof). So I try to walk during my lunch break but that is also when I try to run errands. For instance, today I need to do a Walmart run at lunch since that is so much easier without my daughter in tow! Unfortunately, Walmart is across a very busy road which prohibits me from walking there. By the time I get home in the evenings it is dark (at least for the time being) and I do not live in a well lite area. I loved Curves when I was a member years ago but a move and no nearby locations put an end to that.

As you can see - I need help!!!!! Any suggestions on how to get activity in during the week would be appreciated.

What is the brand of the new scale you got? I'd like to track hydration and BMI as well. Mine is just weight.

Hello all, I've been on a low carb, low cal, low sodium diet for the past year and have steadily lost weight. My carbs are 75 g per meal, 1800 cal per day 2 litres of fluid per day and every two weeks I've consistently lost 2lbs. I know it's slow but it's staying off. Plus I walk 3 times per week about 2 miles each time.

Whatever scale you use, its best to do your regular weigh ins using the same scale.

Certainly you can try to do some exercising in your home including steps and even yoga as great ways to increase your activity level it's not always about running or lifting weights of all those are the obvious choices I still do believe that 80% of weight loss you still in our dietary choices but they're all kinds of apps out there for indoor workouts

PWrestlephoto I always weigh in first thing in the morning (after a cup of coffee but before eating anything!). It was astounded by the difference in the two scales though. Tamarah Jo I'm not really following a specific program. I am looking to make healthier choices over all - less processed foods more fresh, home cooked foods. Home cooked isn't always possible for me but when it isn't I want to eat healthier - salads, fresh cooked foods.
