I'm The KitchenBabe, and everyone loves what I cook. But I've decided to try and revamp my creations so they are healthier, but just as delicious. I'm excited to try it!

I am tired of being overweight. This year is all about making myself healthier than I have been in a long time, and I'm excited to try that, too!

I have a lot of other things going on in my life besides cooking, of course. I'm a wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend. I am a poet and I am a writer. I am constantly trying to learn new things (just now it's watercolor painting, and Italian.) I am completely hopelessly shamelessly addicted to books.

I have plenty of struggles but I try to stay as upbeat as I can, and helping *you* is good for me. Because if I help *you* I don't have time to think about how *I* hurt. Know what I mean?

By the way, if you want to be my buddy, just ask :)

Goals, goals, goals....How long will it take? As long as it takes!

Really? Because it does work for me, in a way no other diet ever has. Weight loss is steady, I feel solid, not shaky, I am not hungry or feeling out of control with carb cravings.

Oh, the scale moves downward so slow!
You've got several things working against you, so it will be more difficult, but I believe you can lose, even if it's more slowly than you like. Maybe you can fine tune a bit? I have learned that I do best if I get my carbs from veggies and fruit instead of bread, rice or pasta, so I have them very seldom and I choose lower-carb veggies and fruits. It seems to work for me Smile

Also....do you have any access to a swimming pool? Among my other previous careers, I was also an aerobics instructor (I know, right? wouldn't you THINK I would never, EVER have gotten fat? But I digress.) I taught low-impact, for older, very overweight, or bone-damaged (that was me) ladies and my classes were huge. I also taught water aerobics, where I learned that the water absorbs 97% of your body weight, so it's almost impossible for you to hurt yourself and the warmth also helps you move more freely. Just a thought?

I used to work as a diet counselor (ironic, isn't it?) for the Diet Center corporation. Both men and women were given the same diet, same foods, with the men having larger portions. And it was a fact that the men would lose their weight much faster, even eating more than we could, in no small part due to the fact that our body chemistry keeps us perpetually preparing for pregnancy, hoarding and storing excess weight. EVEN long after pregnancy would be possible! You're absolutely right, it is SO not fair.

But, you might be one, as I am, who loses more inches than pounds, and an inch is as good as a pound. So measure yourself, and then do it again in 3-4 weeks. I bet you'll find you've lost more than you thought. Keeping my fingers crossed for you, too!
