i am soo sore today. but in a good way. really pushed it last night. And the fact that im working 630--330 instead of 930-630 added to the soreness, i feel tired today and naturally work sucks bc of system errors and we are short staffed BUT, ill just take a nap after work if I need to so i can hit the gym full force since Im out early today. If I can stay on track at gym 2-3 more days, I will have one hell of a week !! Just taking it one day at time and trying to stay strong and avoid all the Halloween carbage, oh i mean candy bwahahahahah . Cheers everyone..

If I'm too tired and sore I ask for support from one of the trainers, maybe even alternative exercises for that day, or I'll join a class. Following orders seems easier sometimes than motivating myself.

Here's what helps me every single time: I remind myself that I have NEVER EVER worked out and then regretted it. I am ALWAYS happy I got myself moving. Good luck!

I try to only hit a body part once a week. That allows the sore muscles time to heal and grow.

Anger and self loathing help. When I lay in bed and listen to the voice that says I'm a loser that will never accomplish anything useful I generally get motivated to get up and show that voice in my head I CAN accomplish anything. Advil and a light workout helps too. Just showing up at the gym by 5:30 AM is success in my mind.

When I was in my 20s, I used to get sore from weight lifting but now I don't and I'm lifting a lot more then I ever have. If I were to get sore and it's that muscle's turn in the rotation, I'll still work it. There is a big difference between soreness and pain. If you're in pain, stop, you've already worked too hard the previous workout. Scale things back a bit. Let your muscles catch up with what you're asking them to do. If it's just soreness there is nothing wrong with lowering the weight a bit and if it 'feels' too easy, then just up the reps at the lowered weight and focus on volume vs. intensity. Push through when you're tired, there is a really good chance that the gym is EXACTLY what you need. I'm with @NicoleStrongBarrett in that I've never come out of the gym thinking "Well, that isn't want I needed". My thought, more times than not, is "Well, I could of done more".
