Hermiones Mom's Journal, 29 October 2015

I'm thrilled with today's 177 weigh-in. I notice many people journal "a small loss thus week" when they lose a pound. Maybe it's just because I'm older now, but one pound or 1.25 pounds each and every week is perfect for me. I feel confident in my eating plan now, and I think I can make it permanent. So if I can, then I won't have to lose this weight again. I was struck today by the fact that I've actually lost more than 90 pounds since I joined FS -- the problem is that I've lost a lot of that weight twice. Today at 177, I'm below my lowest weight since joining FS, and I am very proud. But I'm also determined that THIS IS THE LAST TIME! I am not losing this weight again. For sure.
P.S. As suggested by the Lose a Decade challenge I'm on now, I am grateful for the progress I've made and for the strength I've been granted to move forward. I am grateful to have a lifestyle now that promotes my success -- with time to shop and cook for better health.

I just re-read this. 90 lbs! How amazing is that? You've obviously made the brain/food connection and are living with what you've learned. You SHOULD be proud! What an incredible accomplishment. One lb at a time. One day at a time. It all adds up. Hugs!

Yes but Johanne -- my point is that I've lost most of that weight TWICE. I lost it, then gained it back and had to start over again last summer. I was so sick at that point from the IBS that I could hardly function. But then this past January, when the gastroenterologist really explained to me what my problem was and how to use the FODMAP diet to get rid of it, I really got serious. I tried out the diet for a few weeks, ad when I discovered it really worked on the IBS, I began to have some hope that I could get back on the weight-loss wagon again. So I settled back in to my eating plan, and went from 214 to 185 between January and September, when I weighed myself for the first time since this whole adventure with IBS began. So now I've dropped from 185 to 177 since mid-September. It would be great to continue to lose 6-7 pounds per month. That would put me at goal around May 2016. Wouldn't that be cool?

Honestly your post means a lot to me. I know I really need to lose weight and I'm now determined to do so but it would descourage me thinking about how much I need to lose. And after seeing that you have already lost more than what my goal is. It really shocked me and gives me so much more hope.

This is the first time that I have tried to make lifestyle changes instead of going on a diet, so I completely relate to this post. Good for you on your changes!
