Question : Does anyone log their coffee/creamer/stevia ? How bout butter you use to cook with or onions and garlic you saute with? What about bullion cubes and spices?? Or gum? I'm wondering if Im cheating myself by not logging these things? I mean I log everything, even olive oil but for some reason I leave these out. Your thoughts ? I want to be honest and account for all my carbs...

I log all the fats - so butter counts, garlic and onions have many carbs! In fact I dropped onions because of the carbs. I log the olive oil, too. Bullion cubes may have a lot of sodium - you might just want to check it - but if no carbs no issues. Gum, I do not chew but if sugarless it probably is no problem.

I gave up on the spices. But yes on the butter. Calories! I don't use bullion cubes

I do but I have been largely avoiding sweetners lately of any sort. Butter/oils i often log as items cooked in fat not always separately which I probably should, but I find it hard to measure as I add it during cooking and only eat a portion and there is always stuff left in the foil. (I have no pots and pans atm) I steam/roast in foil packets on the grill. If I do add it separate on an individual serving then I document it.

I try to log everything because if I start picking and choosin I start leaving out a bunch and those little calories add up, especially oils, creamers and fats. Two tablespoons of salad dressing can be over a 100 calories. I log my sweeteners so I can see at a glance how much I have used. It helps me make better decisions towards the end of the day about how many calories I have left.

Don't log herbs or spices - but I do log the smidge of olive oil I cook with, garlic, onions, coffee, creamer... Stevia / Splenda is calorie free - but I log my Splenda since it impacts my fiber data (I use Splenda with fiber). You'd be surprised how logging and measuring your olive oil will make you more accountable for how much you put in there. If you're concerned at all about sodium or wonder where water retention is coming from, I'd log that bouillon as well.

I log the butter, creamer, coffee, coconut oil, and bouillon cubes. I skip my no carb sweetener and spices unless I use a lot of spice. If I'm entering a recipe I list everything in it including the spices. It helps me keep track of my carbs vs fats vs proteins.

log EVERYTHING! You'll be amazed at how it can add up.

I also quit using creamer or anything in my coffee and it's rare that I use any artificial sweetener, I tend to use a bit of sugar in my tea and log that.

Entering every morsel, gum I can't Believe it's not butter spray, nuts, seeds. Learn calories, carbs, fats and protein. Still not getting enough calories, but those carbs and fats add up real quick.

this is all great info.. I logged every thing today and did make a 2-3 net carb difference BUT I also decided to keep my net carbs between 25-40 daily and not strictly under 25 net carbs, which is what I have been doing. And I kinda knew about the fat, I know better. And I switched to Stevia along time ago and that made huge difference. I really want to be honest and it starts with me... and I want to set a good example...

The only things I don't log are salt, pepper, and my hot sauce of the day (cholula, tabasco, etc... ) I've adopted the motto that if I can't log it, I can't eat it. Family/Office functions/parties, I'm highly selective on what I eat and would rather not eat anything than jeopardize my weight loss. It's that critical because cals/carbs/etc will slip through and cause me to slip up.

Even sugar-free gum has as much as three carbs per stick. Stevia has about a carb per serving, but has been shown to provide benefits for diabetics in blood glucose stabilization. Onions have a lot of carbs, and the butter used in cooking provides calories. Creamer will destroy a low-carb diet! Even the sugar-free stuff is loaded. Use cream instead. The coffee itself has nothing in it. Whether it has benefits is a whole other story worthy of its own blog post. ;)

I also log everything. If I can't log it, I don't eat it. The only items I don't log are salt/pepper and water. I try to log the rest of the spices/herbs as some have a surprising number of carbs (cinnamon and vanilla for example)
