br_e_co's Journal, 15 June 2015

This AM i am up 3 pounds from Friday(157.8).

The trend has been up 2-3 pounds throughout each week just to get back ~near~ previous week's weigh in, but inching up in tenths each week. i.e. NOT a good trend.

Just had a birthday dinner for my wife last night at Sotto's here in Cincy, heavenly short rib ravioli, liver pate, and ricotta doughnuts for dessert ... and Thursday we leave for vacation where we certainly will have the governors off on food. Phew. Gonna have to refocus, track everything diligently post-vacation.

I work out like a fiend - but my food choices have not been honest. And i am mixing all the wrong macros(eating tons of fat and sugar along with mongo carbs) ... leading to fat storage. ugh. this is a tough road - even if we've hit our goal weight (which was about 7 pounds and 7 months ago for me, such a distant memory, fading quickly, which i clearly did not honor), our bodies and minds fight back ... and we can pack it on in a blink of an eye.

Just posting this PSA for us all to be vigilant. And more a note to myself how hard i worked to get to 150 and now, just letting it slowly slip away.

Have a great week everyone.

Enjoy your vacation. Choose to eat lighter food like fish, chicken etc and not burgers and hot dogs, no fattening dressings on the salads and ice cream, especially popsicles, are better then chocolate. Don't forget to workout and when you get back home you won't get shocked at what the scales says ;-)

Ricotta doughnuts, that sounds interesting. We have to live life - enjoy your vacation. As Snezica said sensible choices and working out will help but if you're like me you're likely to enjoy some "extra's" while vacationing. The thing is, you know how to get it back off because you're done it before. If you do come back with a gain count it as an enjoyable time spent with family and if nothing else it'll give you cause for more motivation to get back down to where you were. The trend you mentioned is there but it's small, you're still in control.

thank you guys ... yeah, certainly will try to make some decent choices overall ... but food is part of the vacation ... so pretty much just take what happens and deal with it when i get back. the ricotta doughnuts were ricotta-filled doughnut holes, fresh, covered in lovely amounts of powdered sugar. dee-lish. :)

Certainly true, Bill ... i need to get back on the right rail for my diet choices. As we have all come to understand - it's not 80, more like 90% diet for weight loss.

Bill and Br-e-co, ditto to what you both said. And for me, the closer I get to goal weight and the less I have to lose, the more important food choices seem to be as to whether or not I'll lose or gain. When I was fatter it didn't make as much difference. Now there's not nearly as much "wiggle room" as there was.

Yeah I agree with that. It made a lot less difference at 215 lbs than at 175 lbs. When I have a vacation day I try to limit myself to 3 splurges( and watch portions of those splurges, nothing will undo a quart of ice cream guys). The rest of the time I stay on plan with foods that won't do any damage. Limits the gains for me to manageable levels and I get one treat each meal.
