izzypup68's Journal, 26 May 2015

This Tuesday started out very nicely, with a wonderful hike into the nearby hills. Climbing a real mountain is so much more invigorating than working an incline on a treadmill! :) The air was clean and smelled fresh; the plants were beautiful; the birds were singing!

I held my own pretty well with weekend. We have had house guests for the past week or so and I have had to face the challenge of many restaurant meals. I sometimes ordered soup rather than an entree. I chose the fish instead of something equally delicious but more calorie-packed dish. I focused on enjoying the company rather than having it be all about the food for me.

My biggest victory had to do with overcoming the challenge of my family. My husband ran errands with the kids, including a stop at Costco. He came home with a vat filled with iced mini-cinnamon rolls, an item I have avoided buying for months as once I start eating them, I cannot stop. I know the kids love them, but so do I, so I have just not brought them home. In the old days, I would have eaten an entire layer of those little sugar balls before even slowing down. The new me has managed to stay away from them! I have not even had one! :)

Great job! I don't have that willpower yet. I am still doing the thing of "just don't bring it into the house." If it's here, it's gone!

Being outside is so nice rather than on a treadmill.

You should be very proud and happy with yourself. It seems like you were definitely being tested - and you passed with flying colors. That is so great!

If its something I really like, I find it easier not to have any then to have only a small amount.
