My exercise mowing the grass and working outside was derailed yesterday. The 2 week old lawn mower refused to start. Spend 2 hours on the phone, after fighting with it for an hour and trying everything I could find in the manual or online. So my exercise was pulling the dang cord!! Took it back to Lowes in the rain today for a refund, they were nice.

Found out that it was by the same company as the one that just self destructed!!! Not happy! Will not buy another one made by that company! Tomorrow will be lawn mower shopping after more research online. Grass will be over a foot tall by the time the rain stops next Monday!! If the forecast is correct.

So looking forward to a week off next week. My attitude needs some adjusting at this point, so a change in routine will be good. I try to take a week off in May every year to hopefully work on my yard. The triplets may be down to help for a couple days, as it's their last week of school, depends on their baseball schedules. They are begging to spend some time with gramma. Makes me feel good.

At least Friday's forecast is looking better, at least down here. Don't know about north of the river. Luckily I got DH to mow yesterday since he was home. I had to find something for him to do.

Grrrrrr... they just don't make mowers like they use to! The one my dad had when I was younger lasted for years and years and we finally sold it after he died (second hand). My mom has replaced 2 since then .... whatever happened to quality workmanship in our yard tools?

WOW - glad Lowe's was nice about the mower - those kinds of things irritate me.

I absolutely loved my electric mower I bought 6 years ago, though it did have a cord. The re-chargeable ones, I thought were out of my budget, course this will be mower #3 in 6 years. The engine blew up after the warrantee was up. Bought a gas one 3 years ago as the cord was a pain, I have no outside power so had to run cords out my windows. So bought a new mower, it never liked to start, back in the shop under warrantee several times then again after the year was up. The entire pull start assembly and the top of the mower flew off this time bout hit me in the head! Decided to buy a new one, no more money into the money pit one. Bought a Troy-bilt quit working after 2 weeks, turns out it's made by MTD who made the one I fought with for 3 years!

Glen, I love working in my yard, I do not mind mowing at all if the mower starts and keeps running. MY tiller starts even after sitting nearly a year on the 1st or 2nd pull, don't get why mowers complain. My realtor when I was house hunting thought I was strange as I insisted no home-owners associations. I would not look at a house if the area had one! I cannot see paying someone to dictate what I do in my own home, the city codes enforcement people do that enough!

msbuggsgirl, our forecast yesterday afternoon was still saying good chances of rain everyday through Sunday starting tonight, it was already raining @ 5 last night then quit, woke up to rain. It's in the forecast for everyday through Sunday. It will do whatever no matter what the weather people say.

Wow that sucks. Being south of the river helps. We have a small chance for isolated or scattered storms tomorrow but Saturday, Sunday, and Monday are looking bad. Gotta get my mileage in quick lol.

How old are the triplets?

I live on a river bluff just south of the Missouri River. The creek behind my house goes right into the river. The triplets are 13. They are so much fun.

I meant the Ohio river lol. Kentucky misses a lot because of the river, but not everything unfortunately.

Teenage Triplets - you are brave? But sounds like nice kids if they are willing to help Grandma out. Hope you find a decent mower. After all that I can see you might need an attitude adjustment. Just try not to take it out on your eating .

Ah, yes, mowers; I've been here since 1977, 3/4 acre so I need to keep the grass and weeds down. My first mower was a 2 handed scythe, lots of work. VERY good exercise. :) Then I had a Roof brand high weed mower that I used for over 10 years, then had to upgrade the engine to a Honda. Next mower was the worst: Sears riding mower. nothing but trouble. Sold that and got a old John Deere that was long discontinued, and didn't run. Got it running, fixed 4 things, finally figured out it was a very poor design. It's an F510. Got my money back in trade in for a John Deere z225 zero turn mower. the best mower I've ever used or had. And 2 days ago I had to overhaul the left spindle, one bad sealed bearing that didn't have enough grease sealed in with it. :) 31.7 hours on the mower. But, it's a fantastic mower, turns on a dime, up to 7mph, goes around trees, shrubs and anything with ease. I got this z225 3 years ago. 4/30/2012. :) You are very blessed to have grandkids. :)

MY grandsons are amazing! They are my boys, have been since they were 5 pounds. They are busy normal boys with sports, girlfriends ( I know them all), and tease me to death. We have a blast. Big sis 13 mos older is now more into the teen stuff and her friends, she is often too busy to come to gramma's. I get it so it's good.

Bought a Toro, after 3 hours of fast store hopping. The box is still in the car it was after 7 when I finally came home, starving! It was also raining. So maybe put it together tomorrow, supposed to rain parts of the day. It's guaranteed to start for 3 years, figure that's good. I also stopped at 1/2 price bookstore, came home with 4 new to me cookbooks.
