jmb3450's Journal, 26 November 2014

I ate just under 1500 calories yesterday as planned, got a 2 1/2 mile walk in during lunch then 45 minutes of targeted heart rate cycling after dinner. Did the last 10 minutes 17mph at 80% maximum heart rate and finished strong, feeling good with a nice endorphin high. It seems the more I exercise, the less pain and stiffness I feel.

Weight this morning was 217.8 lbs, a new low, but it'll be a stretch to get to 216 by tomorrow morning - will give it my best effort. Fasting until 12:30 today and looking to keep calories under 1500 again. No walking outside due to a winter storm but hopefully I'll be able to work in an hour on the bike tonight. They just announced a surprise breakfast here at work so I'm hibernating in my office until it's done.

We get 2 hours leave today as a holiday gift so I'll get out of work early but have to deal with Washington DC holiday traffic in the snow. Not complaining, it's nice to leave early. Hope everyone has a great day.

YES! A NEW LOW :) How exciting! The weather here, too,is not what I would like for walking but it isn't bad for being December Winter :) The reasons you list for exercising, I am realizing are some of my reasons now :) I have always enjoyed exercise & activity for the endorphin high, however,as I have gotten out of healthy habits I am learning that with *continued* exercise there IS less pain & stiffness :) And,to that end,I have obtained the clothes needed for inclement weather & am heading out the door!!! :) Today I CELEBRATE HEALTHY :)

Thank you friends. MyawethinTICself, there's an excellent book with great information on exercising I'm reading now called "Younger Next Year" and it has a version written for women. It's available on Kindle from Amazon, I highly recommend reading it. Bill (Draglist) said it changed his life, I agree it is that good...it's inspiring me to really be serious about an exercise routine. There are life changing benefits to it. Happy Thanksgiving to all, I'm off to battle a snowy commute home.

well done Jmb3450 - and you're exactly right about pain going away (the more you move); I found that if I do it EVERY day (with only two days of down time) my bod feels just about as good as ever 8-) ... Keep on keeping on (by the way - ever hear of Manassas VA - since you live in the DC area ?)

Womey, yes I know right where Manassas is. As a kid my family used to go camping at Silver Lake Camp Ground which is pretty close by, Haymarket...we spent half our summers down there, great memories.
