Thanksgiving is just around the bend... I am wondering.. how many of you Americans will be using fatsecret to count your calories? Or will this be a "ghost" town on Thursday?
----How are you going to deal with the food? Will you just say "Oh Heck with it, it comes once a year I am going to splurge!"

----Or will you "Yes it comes once a year, I am going to enjoy myself on this holiday, but I am not going to go overboard with food, watching what I eat- staying away from starchy foods, high carbs, etc etc?

----Or are you going to have the attitude "THANKSGIVING BAHH HUMBUG! I am going to stick with my "diet" and follow till the day that I die!

----OR someplace in the middle of the three? How do you deal with holidays?

This is my "first holiday" since being on this new life style change-- I am not going to record any foods that I take on Thanksgiving day (this will be a shocker for my wife to see).. but I am going to becareful of what I eat, how much I eat...etc etc Yes I will have a crescent roll or two.. mash potatoes/rutabaga (Ok my mother in law got me hook on that one).. and a little gravy.. but I will be careful.. and not going over board..
Then that Friday Morning, I will wake up gaining 10 lbs more than I had the day before.. lol...

What are your plans...

I went through Thanksgiving back in October being Canadian. I stayed pretty close to my plan. I had turkey, vegetables, a little gravy and a spoon of dressing. I was full and didn't feel like I missed anything. I am planning on doing the same on Christmas but I am going to treat myself to a tangerine. They smell like Christmas to me. Good luck on Thursday and Happy Thanksgiving.

Since I will be doing the cooking it will be easy. I will track and I will have pie. But since I'm not a gravy or sauce fan it's not a problem for me. If I go over, oh well. I'm taking a long walk that day. This is a lifestyle change for me, not a temporary diet. I've lost 82.6 pounds since March. I'm not going to sabotage that.

I'm splurging.

I plan to enjoy our lunch including a small scoop of potatoes and stuffing. I'm making corn bread so a tiny square of that too plus for dessert a small slice of pie. I will enjoy but will not go overboard because i don't want to add any extra pounds that I will have to lose later. I'm only 1 pound from my first weight goal of 200 pounds so I think that calls for a tiny celebration for all my hard work!

I'm taking 2 vegetable dishes that I know I can eat and a sugar free dessert to dinner at my parents'. I can eat the turkey. I will probably have a taste of some things like sweet potato casserole -- my favorite -- and maybe a bite of dressing, but try to fill up on the things that I know are good for me. I can't eat too much in one sitting anymore, anyway! And if I mess up... it's just one meal, no big deal. :)

Love thanksgiving. I will enter what I eat. It won't be as bad as you think. In my case I will eat little to nothing until dinner.

Thought about freezing a plate of leftovers in a divided rubermade plate, but I bought so many turkeys this week , i could probably have a do over meal later in the year. The deserts aren't appealing right now, but the potatoes and dressing are:)

I'm going to try to log everything. I am actually planning ahead tonight and doing some carb count research before tomorrow's meal, that way I have servings already planned out. I have 83 pounds to lose and don't want to lose another day of my life to being overweight. But, I'm a perfectionist, so I think that's why I'm so adamant about logging everything. It's not for everyone, but it works for me.

I plan to drink one gallon of water (fills me up) throughout the day and start my plate with the turkey (protein) and then eat what else I want but small portions!

I'm sticking to my diet! I went off my diet last weekend and just got myself back into ketosis, so I will barely have an appetite anyways. I will eat plenty of turkey, deviled eggs, and salad. I have the rest of my life to indulge a little. Besides, food tastes better when you are thin :)

I'm trying out a custom diet--basically, if I can take it from an animal or out of the ground, I can eat it. But I'm cutting out everything processed. So hey, I'm good for turkey and stuff. But the dessert table, I shall bit farewell.

Am heading for my daughter's today. Taking homemade rolls and a sausage and potato stuffing. The sausage is chemical free and store made about 90% lean, I almost had to add olive oil to brown it last night. The bread in the stuffing is homemade, made it last night as well; just hard wheat unbleached flour, salt and yeast. Daughter will make turkey, I'm sure both a green bean and a corn casserole, (granddaughter likes making the green bean one) One of the boys is making deviled eggs, one apple pie another doing pumpkin. Gramma has to have something each of the kids make. Will log the best I can. I'm usually under for calories most days so will adjust over the week if needed.

I will be somewhere in the middle of one and two... mostly two, though :) I'll log my food on FS, and will have the foods I love in moderation. Happy Thanksgiving!
