Had a pretty good Thanksgiving holiday considering. I had last Thursday and Friday off from work, plus yesterday. We went to the lake for Thanksgiving with my in laws. Weather was chilly plus I wasn't feeling good. There was a virus floating around at work and it hit me while we were off. My little guy hasn't been feeling great either. I had to pick him up early from school on Wednesday. So I took that opportunity to take one of my cats to the vets. He hadn't been eating well and was losing weight. And everyone around me said I should get him in. Well, it wasn't good news, in fact it was horrible and I ended up losing him. Turns out he had fluid in his lungs and a mass in his abdomen, most likely cancer. It was a big shock. I was sooo sad. We brought his body home and buried him in our back yard. My DH was the voice of reason, with 'you know where your cat is, he's not suffering', etc. It just wasn't what I was expecting though. Anyway, we left Thursday morning for the lake, did some fishing and hung out. Had a big dinner on Saturday afternoon and then came home to do over again at my family's. Big turkey dinner! Yesterday we were at the farm helping out and got more turkey! Oh well, it was all very tasty! Back to work today. I have 2 days of work and then I'm off for the hernia surgery on Friday. So much to do!

You've had quite the roller-coaster. So sorry to hear about your cat. Losing our furry-kids is tough (I had to let my Jack Russell finally rest just last month). Sending hugs and sending hopes for better days ahead...especially reading of your upcoming surgery. Hope all goes well.

So sorry to hear about your kitty. I hope you both get to feeling better. Especially since you're going to be back down after the surgery. :/

Oh sweetie - I also had a sweet cat who had the same symptoms and turned out he had a mass on one of his kidneys. I actually took him to a specialist vet who did a round of chemo on him...but I just could not put him through it a second time. You chose the right thing for the cat even though it breaks our hearts. I am thinking of you.
