why is it when things start to all go right something has to throw a wrench? Today it was that my hubby hit a deer with our 4 wheel drive vehicle on the way to work. I have to work before I can see the vehicle. He is using it to deliver mail as usual today before he comes home with it. Not looking forward to that...he killed the deer...so it can't be good.

Just spoke to him again...the air bag did NOT deploy...so that is good. That means the impact was small enough to not set that off. Just one more thing for me to stress over.

How many calories does worrying burn???

Must not be much...as much as I worry there would be better results if it did burn a lot.

oh dear, any accident is not pleasant to face, let alone one involving an animal. Hang in there!

My hubby told me that the deer ran into the vehicle. It could have been SOOO much worse...truly just the bumper and the lights on the driver's side. Dumb animal to do what he did...really glad my hubby was not injured. The deer was picked up by someone. All the damage to the deer was in the head...so the meat should have been good yet. We do not eat venison so I am glad that someone else is making it count for something. Onward...

I was going to ask if he picked up the deer. Love venison. So glad he is ok and just minor damage. Hitting a deer can cause a lot of damage to both people and their vehicles.

I know people who totaled their cars by hitting a deer. The most dangerous thing is when you try to avoid hitting it and wind up in the trees. Glad to hear hubby wasn't injured and hope the 4x4 is okay. I believe here in NJ, it is illegal to take the deer. I guess that's to stop hunting by auto.

I don't know why anyone would want to hunt by auto...those things can do a lot of damage. You have the option in Minnesota if you want to take the deer. You have to have a tag from the police to do it. You don't want to get caught out of season with a deer hanging from your trees. Since Dave was on his way to work he didn't want to deal with it. He notified the police that it had happened. Then they send someone to pick it up. I don't know if the police have a list of people that want them or what. There are so many deer around they need to be thinned out more than the hunting season does around here.

Not sure what the rules are in other states. Here in Missouri if you accidentally hit one you can keep it or donate it. Hunting season you get tags according to regulations that vary according to location and if you own country property. I now live in the city. My adjoins a park, the creek links to the Missouri river a mile or so down the bluff. Lots of deer, of course no hunting in the city. It is illegal to hunt with a vehicle.
