Friday date night was dinner at Red Lobster with my wife, we had a gift card to use plus a coupon for a free appetizer. We made reasonable choices, I had salmon topped with salsa and shrimp and she had the endless shrimp, but it was still a significantly higher calorie meal than our usual places we go. I must confess to eating most of the cheddar bay biscuits too. But it was a really nice way to relax and wind up a stressful week and we took part of our meals home and gave our dogs a treat as well, everyone was happy. We watched a movie "Tuesdays with Morrie" - what a great movie - loved it.

The extra carbs and salt have me up 1 1/2 pounds this morning. Today is work day in the yard for me, lots to do, so I'll burn off the calories, sweat some of it out, and drink lots of water to take care of the rest. Low calories planned for today - a protein/yogurt shake for brunch and grilled chicken/salad for dinner, by tomorrow I think I'll be right back on track.

Time's a-wastin', off to work. Have a great day.

I will be doing the endless shrimp (scampi) tonight as part of my Atkins plan, sans biscuits. It's a great deal and very delicious! Sounds like a nice, special night. You'll bounce back soon enough. :)

CR, it will go great with your low carb plan if you can avoid the croutons on the salad and the biscuits!

The endless shrimp is good, priced good at 16.99 too since it's all you can eat and includes a salad. If I remember right it's available through October. I think we'll go back for it. One thing to beware of, the Salmon New Orleans (it was delicious) that I had is listed at 17.99 in the menu but that's the lunch price, I was charged 23.99. I complained and pointed it out once I got the bill but they didn't offer an adjustment and I didn't want to ruin a nice night out arguing with the management. I have contacted them through the website and asked for follow up, we'll see if they'll give me any accommodation like a money off coupon. That's what they should do, that would be proper customer service. AND correct the menu so that lunch/dinner pricing is specified.

Why would the price of a dinner be more expensive than the same item at lunch?

Glad that you enjoyed yourself, you both needed it.

Deb, per the district manager who called me back the lunch price is for a 1/2 portion, dinner for a full portion. Problem is that was not specified on the menu. I have to give Red Lobster kudos though for follow up as I got a call from the district manager last night who agreed with me the pricing wasn't specified and also that the waitress should have alerted me of the price since she was aware of it when I ordered. They're supposed to credit the difference back onto my credit card. So in the end that is good customer service, which is what it SHOULD be all about in the service industry. I thanked him for his call and level of service/follow up. We'll go back there for dinner again.

Today I am starting a 10lbs in month challenge! My plan is to eat healthier than I have in the past and to drink more water. I have slowly over the past few months weaning myself of sugared drinks! So here we go!

Jim, thanks for explaining that the dinner meal was a larger portion. My thought was that they were charging extra for nighttime ambiance and a fancier serving plate. ;)
