Ruhu's Journal, 17 August 2014

Another good day under my belt as I forge ahead on my OWO highway, and I'm happy knowing that each step taken in that healthier direction is one away from the overeating that has plagued me on weekends. DH & I are headed up to our lake cottage for the afternoon and meeting friends there. While they are not on the top of my list of those I most like to spend time with, it's DH's best friends since childhood and his new wife. I thought so highly & really enjoyed DH's friend for years, but after he cheated on his 1st wife (who I'd also grown to love), I've felt differently and can't quite shake it. His new wife is certainly nice enough, but was she's a full-time corporate executive and I've been a stay-at-home mom since the moment I could, so we don't have that much in common. But I am as determined to make the best of the afternoon as I am of succeeding in my OWO.

I've been to spin class already, but before I get into the shower and on with my day, I'll pray --

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

And through this one day and each one meal, moment, bite, thought & emotion, I'll pray, breathe, journal, stay curious & express my way. Staying curious today could be the key as I deal with what may come up this afternoon. I'm so grateful to know that I have all of amazing you supporting me, my family & IRL friends, the strength that my success so far on OWO brings and having the health & wealth to live this life I love! xoxox

I can imagine that you're having a hard time dealing with that friend of your DH, after what he did to his first wife. Maybe you can find some forgiveness in your heart on a beautiful day at the lake. I can imagine that you feel like you don't have much in common with his current wife, but people are so much more than their careers. She might as well be a spinner? At least you have in common that you both like to spend a Sunday afternoon at the lake. I love how determined you sound on your OWO, by the way! You'll be just fine, I'm sure of that! Thanks for sharing your prayer, it's very beautiful!!!

OMG -- I googled it too now! I made it up for myself & meant Operation Weekend Overhaul. It's worked so well though I hate to change it!
