LuC2's Journal, 11 April 2014

Today is tough, I'm down a pound (which is good) but seeing how far I have to go really does a head-thing. I have to lose the equivalent of a waif model! I have to sweat off Kate Moss!!!! A very sobering thought, indeed. Every time I see a magazine model I think, "I have to lose more than the person weighs!" I will keep plugging at it (headed to work out) and will proudly loose the scale for a few weeks in the next CHALLENGE: Trust Fall - The Weight Loss Version. Go check it out <http://www.fatsecret.com/challenges/trust-fall---the-weight-loss-version/Home.aspx> Checking the scale every day is making me crazy (even though I'm only logging once weekly. I'm becoming a little fanatical with these numbers instead of just being focused on the changes I already see in my body and clothing. Would I feel this way trying to lose 50 lbs or 80? Ok, done venting. Resigned to one-pound-at-a-time, one day at a time. I think I hear my theme-song playing, "This is it, this is it...<http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0uZBBvaKGc>" Don't you hear it?

It is definitely a challenge but you can do it. Just think of how unhealthy those models possible are. You don't want that, you want to be healthy and enjoy life. So keep up the great work you are doing.

Right there with you! Would love to drop some serious lbs each week but a pound a week down is better than up! Love that song and since you mentioned it, that song will be in my head all day long!

I totally understand where you are coming from. It can be so frustrating when the goal is big and the weight loss is slow. I feel the same way you do about the scale, I see all I am doing then see numbers I do not like and it is easy to think why do I bust my butt and sacrifice so much if the scale isn't moving much. But then I make myself think about how much healthier I am now. It is the whole package, not just a number. Keep focusing on that and know for each pound you are gaining freedom and quality of life!

I dont know about you, but for me, breaking it up into smaller goals was a lot less pressure on me....but I will say that for me, I DID feel that way at 100lbs to go, 80lbs to go, 50 to go. You are not alone!

What's that old saying...you eat an elephant one bite at a time? It takes a long time to gain it and it's the same losing.

I have to lose the equivalent of Kelly Rippa/an Olsen twin/Mila Kunis in Black Swan. :D If I end up going for the 110lbs instead of the 98, THAT list is too long for me to post! lol One pound at a time!!!

Thanks, ya'll, I really needed to read these encouragements. My head knows these things and that it will take time, but my heart wants microwave-quick results!

Those models aren't a very good depiction of a healthy body and that's what you're shooting for, so don't worry about what they look like. It's funny because yesterday on the weather channel website I saw a story about old ads for "health" products, and there were a lot of them for weight gain for women. Amazing how times have changed. You're doing great. Just think if you lose a pound a week (which I'm sure there are times it will be more) for a year, you'll lose 52 pounds, so that's more than 1/2 of one of those models. :)

I've lost a Kindergarten child! You can do this. It does play mind tricks with you though.

LOL @Kris AZ... I was thinking the same thing about me! LuC2... it is a very daunting task, especially when you are on the upper end of needing to lose "XYZ". The further down you get, the easier it will be on the mind games. Keep up the good work and you can do it!

You are losing!!! That's awesome! Just think about the fact that you're not gaining. As they say, you didn't gain the extra weight overnight, so it's sure not going to come off overnight. One day at a time...

The song in my head these days has been that old Beatles song...I'm down, I'm really down, how can you laugh when you know I'm down, Waaaao! Baby I'm down. ;)

You are doing great you are earning your weight loss and doing it the right way. Keep positve and appreciate your progress. By the way I joined that no scale challenge too. The next few weeks will be interesting.

Instead of worrying about the total BIG number you want to loose, just do it in 10's. Each 10 is a pants size. Each half of 10 is half way there. Much easier to manage and focus on and eliminates the discouragement of the BIG #!

The next few weeks will be VERY interesting, ChicaLean! I'm like a crack-addict when it comes to the scale. Not sure when it happenened, but I can scarcely pass it without hopping on "just to see" (LOL)! The other day, I was sneaking because I'd already weighed. My husband heard me and asked if I was on that scale. I nearly jumped out of my skin, but couldn't help giggling because it was so ridiculously funny...to be busted...weighing yourself! (Where was he when I was eating those extra bowls of rice and brown gravy or making Molten Lava Cakes two or three days in a row!?!? (LOL)! The day is almost over and I feel a lot better now -- Thanks for ALL the encouragement -- one pound at a time!

I had mini goals and still do. If u obsess about how far u have to go , you will def discourage yourself. It took me a year to lose 50 lbs but I found it easier to do it 10 lbs at a time . I just kept trying to get to 220, 210, 199, 180 something etc. what I discovered along the way was control and empowerment and I liked myself again for being in control . Don't ever get hung up on those magazine pictures, remember it is their job (models) to look that thin and wear clothes well. If we got paid for it , we might have a different mindset :) I know I would ! I just want to be healthier and eat healthier and by doing this I am changing my shape and mental health. Stay with it, you are not alone!!!

Anything going in the right direction is a huge plus! I know how you feel but I am trying not to look at the entire scope but to take it a few goals at a time. You ARE doing it! Just keep on keeping on!
