Kathy Vanish's Journal, 02 March 2014

Well, it's the end of February and my weight loss has plateaued. My measurements have not changed either. However, I had a few small wins this month: I fit in my tightest jeans during my period, I went to a Chinese Buffet and only went up once and didn't layer any food on my plate, I can see light between my ankles when I stand with my feet together and my thighs don't touch all the way to my knees with my feet shoulder width apart anymore, and I had to retire one of my pair of large exercise pants to the pj draw as they fall down when I exercise now. My husband has even noticed the definition in my hamstrings, abs, and butt.

I think I did well with my exercising this month; however, this last week I did fall off the eating wagon and didn't count any of my points. I started counting again this morning and will just have to be more diligent and maybe that means next week I will have a weight loss.

I had one let down. As you all know I wanted to start training to run the 5K as part of our town Mayfest. Well, that isn't going to happen because they have decided to make it a 10K this year. With the way this winter is going, I am never going to be ready to run a 10K. Now I will just have to find another way to motivate myself to start running.

I like that you focused on all the things that ARE going right. Great job on all fronts. So sorry about the 10K. I am completely incapable of running (I have tried it so many times and I'm just going to stick with fast walking and other forms of exercise). That being said, I love the results I see for other people when they take up running, so it makes me sad when a motivation like a 5K run gets yanked away. That does seem like a great length race for many people to jump-start their running journey. You will find a way. Good luck and keep that positive attitude!

Congrats Kathy! Keep at it and you will see improvement if not in weight and tape measure it means you are toning and better definition and posture! Don't give up on the 5k race.... keep on training for it and on the day you go run 5k...you may run even more once the adrenalin sets in...you can walk the rest of the way...Just go for it and keep training!

Good job! You sound like you are doing very well. Train for the race anyway. Even if you just walk the whole thing.

Maybe I will. I had the weekend to think about it and I still want to take it up a notch and start to run and even if it is only to keep myself and my puppy, Otis, in shape that is a lofty purpose. It is just sometimes helpful to have a goal to work towards. I am looking around to see if there are any other 5K races in my area this summer to sign up for. Either way, I am going to run. I did it when I was younger and enjoyed it. I am older now and want the solitude from life.
