Missychick21's Journal, 15 February 2014

Well, I am beginning to think my body can't tolerate sugar...which is weird since I used to drink soda daily...But, today I ate my carb smart ice cream with chocolate syrup (no judgement on my junk food choice, please) and it gave me a headache. Yesterday I had a few tiny pieces of candy from my daughters valentines from school and it was the same thing...

Now, I have suffered from migraines for years but since I have been taking Excedrin every night I haven't been having headaches during the day as much or if I do get one it has been very mild compared to my usual. Then after eating the sugar it is a very sharp pain.

I'm not asking for everyone's medical advice I am just stating my personal observation of myself. I guess if sugar causes me this much pain maybe it will be easier for me to not even have the occasional treat...

Missychick, I did an experiment and gave up refine sugar for 30 days to see how it would make me feel. It was hard for 3 weeks, then it was like second nature. I felt amazing. It helped me lose weight, too. Now it's been 141 days. Maybe try it for two weeks and see how you feel? I do use Truvia, etc but judiciously and I only eat fruit for sweets now. No headaches or crashes. Life is good. Keep us posted!

I think it's because I've been tracking food. I quit even putting sugar in my coffee last Sept. I have very little. Once in awhile my Mexican chocolate mix. I also follow the heart association's recommendation for fat % so with a family history of high cholesterol I aim for an average less than 30% with 7% saturated. So that much sugar and fat together was too much for my system.

My body reacts in the same way to fried stuff after I stopped having them a few months back.

I wish all the unhealthy foods were never created then we would have never gotten addicted and eating would just be so easy lol

Wouldn't that be nice. As well as foods unhealthy drinks. I am bad as I like beer and wine. I now rarely buy it because nor have I made any because I will drink it. Not good for my energy, me losing weight, headaches, sleeping well. It is good for easing pain and creating the munchies.

And you know, before processed foods, we weren't fat. In school, if there was a big kid, he was tortured for being heavy. And he wasn't heavy in the same sense as the kids today. He was a pug.

Right, kids played outside not in front of a computer. Concerned about one of my grandson's as he is simply soft and a bit pudgy, not really fat because he has gotten much taller this past year. He spends his time watching tv or at his computer and has since he was little. The rest are all into sports and love the outdoors.

We have had some good advances like in the medical field and stuff but our food/drink and health have all gone downhill :(
