kmartdollie's Journal, 16 February 2013

I had a really good day today. I took my cousin's 7 year old daughter out and spoiled her with tasty food and the nail salon. Then I went shopping and I bought myself two pairs of fabulous high heels and I bought some expensive makeup. I spent a lot of money, but oh well. I love wearing high heels now because when I was heavy, I could never wear high heels. They hurt. The pressure on my joints was terrible. I could barely cram my foot into a pump. Now I can walk with ease and relative comfort in a pair of high heels, so I intend to enjoy it now while my feet can walk in high heels. Another big thing that I really didn't believe that I missed that I notice now that I'm smaller is that I used to not be able to cross my legs. Not even a little bit. I had to lose 50 pounds in order to be able to cross my legs. Now I love sitting and crossing my legs - I'm very aware of it and love that I have this option now. It probably sounds silly but I think about these things and they are the little small things that slip away when you put enough weight on. Other than that, I forced myself to go to the gym today. I LOVE that I did my "junior workout." That is the workout I do when I really don't want to go to the gym. My junior workout consists of 30 minutes on the elliptical, and 30 minutes lifting weights and doing abs. Plus I walked the dog for a half hour, so I got some good effort in today. I also haven't posted since I hit a huge milestone a few days ago. I can now run 5 miles. 5 miles with no breaks, without stopping, for an hour and 13 minutes. It feels AMAZING. I have never felt such a feeling of accomplishment. 5 miles just SOUNDS more hardcore than 4 miles, and I'm not sure why. But I can now run at that level and it feels great. I think I am going to be able to do my 10K in June no problem, unless I get injured. I even splurged on new running shoes. I used to be able to wear a pair of running shoes for several years, because I never did any actual exercise in them. Now I am following the guidelines, that if you run your shoes need to be replaced at least once a year or every 300 to 500 miles. That's crazy - I've never "needed" new running shoes in my life until now. All of this feels pretty good. I am in a good place today, and I'm very glad.
