dave22's Journal, 06 June 2008

Well you all nearly gave Sarah an emotional moment with your advice yesterday and she fervantly wanted me to convey her thanks.. she just kinda was confused why, when she was in ketosis for many days at a time, drinking like a fish, counting every miligram of carbs, exercising etc why the pounds were not falling off like ya read in the magazines with those darn celebs and stuff lol - anyhoodle the good news was that she measured last night and over the last two weeks she's lost an inch off her tum and chest(at the back, if ya know what I mean) it just aint registering on the scales for some reason, maybe the new ones will be better...

God.. I too have succumed and become really boring in how I am counting every gram and doing everything right... gone are the heady dare devil days of "approximizing" some meals and counting others... I am now JOGGING instead of walking.. in order to shock me system out of cosyness... am even getting a bit of colour being out so much. I tell ya, iffin I dont end up like Brad Pitt after this...I'm writing a letter so I am - in Triplicate!

Even though I am not now 'thinking' about food all the time, I keep wondering if its unusual that I still crave a cream cake or a slice of homemade soda bread with real butter and jam! I know, I know.. I should be past all that and if I was offered it I'd say no thanks..but with tears in me eyes!! However the thing is that I KNOW that I'm feeling and looking better than I was before I started this in early March - and theres more to come!

Conor didn't phone or text yesterday - smiles.. must mean that its going well for him.. (chuckles or else he's out of credit already!)

Can be 100% sure of one thing... if it were not for the inspiration found in the people, journals and resposes here... well...it would be such a tough slog, wouldn't it (good things are so cool!)

Now nearly 9am... time to BLAST into the day... see ya at elevens'

I think we all crave naughty foods sometimes. it sounds like you are doing great! I agree that it would be so much harder without inspiration from our buddies (so thank you :). have a wonderful day!

Ohhhh, I was craving like crazy last night and I'm im heavy ketosis!! I would've given my left or right arm for a peice of cake or something. I don't think the cravings ever really go away. I think we just look at them differently. Something that would taste yummy at the time would do a terrible amount of distruction to all of our hard work. Keep it up Dave!! Your doing wicked!!

Think you're right Keri. I still would like to have a piece of cake but I look at it and think..."that's going to mess me up for days!" NO THANKS! Jogging? I'm impressed, way to go! If you end up looking like Brad Pitt, Sara may have to look out, lol!

Glad to hear that Sarah measured and found the loss! Way to go on amping it up to JOGGING!! Wow! Awesome! It's sometime hard to remember that this process is Hard Work, and we know how to "make it happen", but sometimes it's just not fast enough. Perseverance and patience are sometimes hard to come by, but YES! HERE, it is much more possible and thank the good Lord for that! :) Have a great day, and since it's Friday, ... Great weekend, too!

This is all why is it so important to make our home a "safe" place and not keep all those nasty sugary things around at all! But popcorn is so much harder for me to ignore than chocolate cake!! I think I'm weird!! And yes, it is a slog without buddies -- but I intend to stay here forever because it helps me stay focused on what's really important! "Approximizing" is EXACTLY how I get myself into trouble . . . that, or merely eating "the usual" because it's good stuff . . . without actually totaling carbs! Dangerous territory!

My God Davy! You're counting your carbs AND JOGGING!! I am in awe of you......keep it up you dear Irish Lad! Kudos to Sarah for losing the inches and the scale will catch up to her soon I'm sure! Hope Conor is enjoying himself and phones or texts you soon for your own peace of mind. You know, it's the parent thing. The child thinks you are keeping tabs on him all the time, but you just want to know everything's ok (which I'm sure it is). Have a fabulous day!

good to know you're still human and craving stuff!! It IS normal, typical, and healthy to still salivate after food from time to time, ya know? You are not a saint--not expected to be! ;) But you're doing so great at keeping those cravings at bay, and taking up JOGGGING (OMG!!)..so cool, Dave...you're rockin' it!! Brad Pitt? Who cares?! I think you're waaaayy cooler ;)

oh, BTW, the no-call from Conor reminds me of the time when I first left home (at 21), and "forgot" to call me parents for a whole week!! (Coz I got busy with all the settling-in stuff, meeting new people, having fun etc..and sorta assumed my parents would just know I'm ok--I'll get around to calling them soon...!) Well, in other words, Conor's probably delightfully discovering the new place and people--but will call soon enough--not to worry :)
