I feel a little more in control and it's great. If I don't have a mistake today, this will be the fourth day in a row that my eating has been back on track. I didn't go to the gym today because I had appointments, but I did walk 5 miles today! Yes I did! I walked 4 miles by myself, down by the river in my neighborhood, and then I was good and came back home and walked the dog for his 30 minute, 1 mile walk. Walking is very good exercise if you do enough of it. I think it helps me when I run, too. Walking for 2 hours really loosens up my muscles, tendons and ligaments I think. I try to walk the dog every day, if I can, but I like the fact if even if I'm not going to the gym, I'm still getting exercise. I've had two expensive salads today - I got the first one at the grocery store and it was ten bucks because they weigh it by the pound. Then I went on my walk, and I decided that I am going to watch James Harden, my favorite basketball player, at the sportsbar again tonight, and I figured I would eat one of their salads tonight. The sportsbar salad is actually CHEAPER than the grocery store salad - can you believe that crap? Why is so freaking expensive to eat decently? You can get an extra value meal at McDonalds for under 5 bucks. You can't get a salad at McDonald's for under 6.50. And a McDonalds' salad is not the best salad you can buy. I spend a FORTUNE on food. I don't see how we as a country are going to do any better with obesity and diabetes when so many families and so many children can't afford to eat anything but white bread and Hamburger Helper. It's depressing. As usual, I digress.

I agree - eating healthy is ridiculously expensive and because processed foods are so cheap is one of the reasons our health as a nation suffers. I think a lot is priorities too - flat screen TVs and Xboxes in every house but not a fresh chicken in every pot....

Yes eating healthily is so expensive, I'm not a fan of cooking at all but I find that the only way I can afford to eat healthy is to make all my salads and things from scratch, helps you regulate the amount of oil and the like too! Very glad to hear that you like so many English foods. I knew that our food had a bad reputation in Europe (and justifiably, when you compare it to the gorgeous stuff that the French and Italians and Spanish make) but I didn't realise that reputation had spread to America too, that makes me sad! That's great that you walk so far every day, what a brilliant way of burning calories and getting some fresh air without it feeling too much like a chore. Definitely one of the advantages of having a dog too, I imagine it really gives your walk more of a sense of purpose! Could he not last the longer walk with you?
