Monday. Where the heck did fall go?!!!

We had about 2 weeks of break between 100F+ weather and freezing. I brought my tender plants in about 3 days ago. These last two years have been two of the weirdest, weather wise, that I have ever experienced. Our trees here haven't even changed color yet, at least the ones that have leaves left after the heat and drought. It's still totally green out there. My toad living in my flower pot hasn't moved to warmer digs yet. I'm hoping he doesn't freeze to death in that little pot.

I made my wild grape jelly. I only got 10 1/2 cups from those 7 quarts of tiny grapes, but the jelly is as amazing as I remember it being. When I was 18, I was at the Kansas City Art Institute. My roommate was from Arkansas. Her mother sent her a jar of homemade wild grape jelly, which she shared. I had never tasted anything like it. Weeeeeeeell, mine tastes exactly like I remember it tasting. This is the first year I have had grapes on those vines, let alone enough to pick. There won't be any more because most of the brush is now cleared on the property, including the grapes and will all be cleared soon. If I had a fence along the back of the property, I'd plant more vines, hoping to get more grapes. I did save seed. :-)

I seem to be trying to catch a cold. I'm sure hoping I'm wrong. I don't have time for one. Besides, I HATE being sick. I'm doing my salt inhaler and neti pot. I hope I can stave it off. I got my flu shot in Sept., so it should just be a cold if it hits.

I'm off to work. I'm so behind on everything. I hope all my good buddies had a great weekend and have a good evening.

I'm thankful for:

Waking up.
My pretty herbs and roses.
Skills and talents to keep me from boredom.
Good friends.
My wonderful Sleep Number bed!
Wash and wear hair. LOL.
Comfy shoes.
The magic of high tech toys.

That jelly does sound yummy - but too much sugar for me right now. So happy you are staying busy with all your talents - and I love your thankfulness list tonight!

Also, impressed with your jelly making talents. Have a great day!

Ah, but I ended up using the Ball, no sugar, pectin. The jelly is pure, unadulterated grape juice. LOL!

Cindy, I got my sleep number bed 6 years ago when I got my Social Security settlement. I had 30 days to spend the entire amount down or lose benefits . . . a really stupid law. It would have made more sense to put that money away. Anyway, I bought a lot of things I thought I might need in the next 20 years (washer and dryer, etc.). I LOVE my sleep number bed. I no longer wake up with aches and pains. I would have bought a firm mattress, had I bought an ordinary one. As it turns out, my bed is set at 45, quite soft. It's perfect. As for jelly making, this was the first and probably the last time it will ever happen. LOL! You have a great one too!

Interesting about your sleep # being on the soft side - 45 - is that near the soft end? I want a new mattress but reviews said everyone just uses the firmest setting on the Sleep # so I figured why spend the extra $$ and just get a reg. very firm mattress. I don't sleep late any more because I am in pain in the mornings. :( I want some of your jelly!!!! Sounds super delicious!

@ Neptune, if you have a sleep number bed at 100%, it's, literally, like a rock. For years I woke up in pain. When I was tested at the Sleep Number store, they recommended I set the mattress at 65%. When I got it home, I set it lower and lower until I hit 45%. It's perfect there. I can sleep (and DO) in one position all night and wake up in the morning in absolutely no pain. That mattress is one of the best investments I ever made!

Sazy, I've had sort of a miserable week. I came down with a cold last Tues and I've been trying to sleep it off. Thanks to my improved health, colds don't last nearly as long as they used to. This one is already letting up, thank goodness, but I've been out of touch for most of the week. I do keep my thankfulness journal every day, even when I don't write it here. I'm glad the challenge is helping you, as well. I think, when this first one runs out, I'll renew it, even if it's just for me. It keeps me on my toes. I hope your weekend has been lovely and I love you back my wonderful friend!

Hey sweetie! Just popped by because I saw you online. I am so sorry you have had the cold crud. FatOldLady said she had it too. Several of my friends have had sinus problems. Anyway, I made jelly one time in my life and that was the last time too. What a lot of preparation for such little jars. LMAO! It was the best grape jelly I ever had... but your grapes were even smaller than the ones I put up. Treat those little jars like they are gold. LOL! HUGS!

Johanne, that is good to know about the Sleep Number. I'll have to start a saving envelope for that one. :)
