KayBuckaroo's Journal, 07 July 2018

Excited that I got to pay ahead on bills and then I went on a grocery shopping trip that dreams are made of: loading the cart up with everything that looks good in the fresh produce aisle. I used to shop with a list and calculator in hand, but now it’s all about fresh fruit and veggies. I buy everything in season, and I have at least 3 huge fruit bowls out at all times.

$200 in groceries, for one week, for a family of 5. I quit drinking, I quit smoking. We eat all meals at home 95% of the time. Almost $100 worth is perishable foods. Things that I can have chopped up for a complete meal at anytime. These spoils I earned. This is my WOE. How bourgeoisie, how Nouveau riche my husband says. This is how I stay thin, this is how I stay happy: indulging in the FRESH FOOD.

Fresh cherries for breakfast, watermelon slices sprinkled with salt for lunch, staying hydrated and eating what I’m craving. Dinner is going to be ground turkey gyros with a homemade tsaziki sauce, courtesy of hubby. Haven’t decided yet what tomorrow will be, but I’m stocked up on all my favorites so regardless I’m going to be happy. The crispness of the apples, the juiciness of the watermelon, etc those things make fruit my favorite foods. Sometimes I have to force myself to have protein/fat, but I know eating balanced diet is best.

700 calories today are all from fresh fruit. Keto was impossible for me because well, carbs. But I’m still seeing the weight come off s l o w. L. Y...... but it’s still going down.

I am fully satisfied with the fruit I ate, and now need to nap after a long week of painting. Wish me luck on dinner.... waaaaaay outside of my comfort zone.

I see multiple people on FS who take in carbs "only through fruit" and seem to be fine. The "only" part seems to be key. But I am still researching...

keto is not for everyone, there are lots of people that lose weight on healthy whole food type diets, paleo is all about natural eating and all the other types of diets out there work for folks too. glad you have one that works for you!

$200 a month for a family of 5 is fiscally sound shopping in my book. I only have 4 and am not close to that... Unless I fast!

$200 and groceries for 5? wow I spend more than 200 for 3, well my little one use day and night diapers, wipes and 4 gallons of lactaid milk, etc. I know that I am still saving because I eat less now and I don't waste my food

I do the same, the fruit that’s in season is the one going in the basket 👌🏼

Yep $200 a week, and that doesn’t count any paper products or cat food et Cetera. I definitely equate to no longer binging once I no longer ate refined carbohydrates or potatoes. Once I “only” took in fruits and vegetables as my carbohydrate sources, I stopped binging. Could just be psychological, but at this point it doesn’t really matter because it’s working.

Hey 👋. Good you for quitting the cigs! I applaud you on that. Monday I will celebrate my 8th year of quitting cigs. And I smoked for 40. Congrats on being able to get ahead on bills. I got behind too and now with my job, I’m staying on top of everything and it’s such a good feeling. As far as fruit goes, after realizing how many carbs are in fruit, I stopped buying but my market is selling cantaloupe for 75c each. In the winter we don’t get good melon. Bought three and now I have to eat them. One more to go.

Fruit or pop tarts, it matters not where fat loss is concerned. Fruit is more nutritious though.

Feel good to hear how happy you are with your lifestyle changes. Happy for all five of you. We are different, and to me calories does not work, in light of that some types of calories cause painful hunger, and other calories cause satiety and harmony. To me, keeping the hormones in check is key.

I eat the rainbow every day. Nature painted fruit with bright and beautiful colors and gave it a sweet taste for a reason--so we would eat it :-) I bought a lovely box of peaches today. There is nothing like a juicy summer peach on sunny July afternoon. Night night all.
