50 Now!

Failed to get the weight off last year..... I will not be disappointed with myself ever again!

So this is me......

I am Karen, born in England but have lived in Scotland for 20 years and support Scotland's Rugby Union team at every opportunity!
So I am 50 now and 25 years married, unfortunately my lovely husband is one of those men that eats loads and doesn't put on weight and my two boys are the same. There is always the wrong foods in the cupboards and always someone snacking - in 2014 that statement will not include me!

I work full time and travel within the UK regularly. My downfalls are: Chocolate, Cider and cheese flavoured crisps. I have a lactose intolerance which is manageable, so not completely dairy free but minimal. I hate hotels and their limited menus and their chefs who only make what is on the menu and can't throw a simple grilled chicken and salad together!

We have a young dog who needs plenty of walks and he has definitely changed my life. I see more of the seasonal changes now that I am out at least twice a day walking him and have a new camera to captured evrything!

So my diet is to get slim by the 10th May for a family event. I stated out with 22kg to lose by that date and there after a bit more of and then maintenance. This is my 3rd attempt, I achieved it the first time on Weightwatchers, failed last year and will do it this year!!

Hi,
if you enter a food that the database does not recognise, it will offer you the chance to add new food.
Good luck on your journey,

New to the site!
Glad to be of use. I have experimeneted a lot and I like what this site has to offer!
Getting used to my fit bit - I like a challenge and although 10,000 steps a day is easy to achieve at the weekend, it is a great challenge during the week.
The quote can seem a bit demeaning to people, but I tend to envy others but the will power hasn't been there....going strong just now and this has been for the longest time.

Hi Susan,

on the "My Fatsecret tab", right hand side, under "community", you will find "my Cookbook". You can create your recipes in here and it will tell you the nutritional information for a portion. If you are using your own recipes, you will need to go to the cook book to log them. Hope you are going to share some of them, I am always looking for ideas but I am not very creative!
I have a fit bit too and sync it only with my computer. It would be great if fatsecret synced with it, but I also use myfitnesspal online as it will share the food with the fitbit dashboard. I do prefer fat secret though, just now I seem to enter everything twice. On myfitnesspal, I am Karinamay63, so if you give it a go you can find me there also.
I am 50 and based in Scotland, willing to buddy you on your journey!

The Days when you can't weigh in!
Thanks Everyone - I relly just need to plan ahead. I haven't snacked without knowing what it would be and have kept portions to small and not eaten the added extras (crisps etc.) As menetioned, I don't wear the same clothes when away on business, so it is hard to judge, but I am tracvelling home tonight and I can't wait!

The Days when you can't weigh in!
Thanks, I hadn't thought of measuring myself too! I try to break each meal to it's individual elements, it's just the potions that are a bit of a worry - I hope I am guessing over what they are!
