momma6224's Journal, 16 February 2018

I am craving things today for the first time in almost 6 weeks😩 I’m feeling tired of this...tired of worrying about my electrolyte levels and how many net carbs I’m eating...if I’m eating too much protein...if my fiber is too low...etc. Maybe it’s hormones or all the crazy things going on in the world, but I feel depressed and eating healthy is the last thing I want to think about. It’s the weekend and that’s always hard for me food wise. I’ve stuck to this woe and exercising 4-5 days a week 99% of the time over the last 6 weeks. I’ve lost 11 lbs (was down 12 before Valentine’s Day but went up despite not cheating which in itself has been a little discouraging) I won’t give in to this feeling or give up, but I want to today. Anyone else ever feel this way? How do you stay strong?

Yes, I think we all do at one time or another. I had a bad day today, but I just hope that tomorrow is going to be better. And aren't hormones a bitch! They play havoc on me quite often. Keep on going and give yourself a break, not all is bleak, you lost 11 pounds that is something to be very happy about!

I had a day like that and I have in and that day turned into 4 then I had the hardest time coming back to the diet even though I know it works well for me. So please learn from my mistake. It's so hard to get back into the diet. It was for me anyway. Plus I completely ruined every bit of progress I had made, not necessarily weight Wise but I kicked out of ketosis and now I can't seem to get back to where I was at before. It's just not worth it.

I think you just need to realize that you're human, with flaws, love yourself, and take it one day at a time

I don't want to discouraged you but know that you can go up 5#s even when not cheating on meals. It's very common and then the very next day be back down those 5#s. There's nothing wrong taking a step back for sanity reasons, enjoy things in moderation, enjoy life.

Some days are certainly easier than others. .. I have to stay focused on the long term goals ...like staying alive longer, being able to be around to retire and do the things I worked hard for, being around for my grandkids. ..I am two years in on my woe and it gets better. ..now it is more of a routine for me. I pray for your strength and resolve on your life adventure.

Thanks for sharing Momma...I think that most of us go through bouts like you are describing at one time or another, I know it happens to me...when things go bad, don't let it defeat you...just reset and move on. And yes it will get easier in time as good new habits overlay the old. Remember it's not a sprint but a new way of life!!

momma l feel your pain, l decided I'll eat anything l want of the foods, candies etc.that's bad for our new woe.I'll eat fried chicken but not the skin or sample a couple of pieces of chocolates but not very often or have a small cone icecream once in a blue moon..get the drift...you have common sense to what can put on bad weight so by using good judgement and doing it sparsely with the here and there additude will kept your craving from driving you crazy and also after having five children and looking as good as you do from reading your bio. and post your to be highly commented and raising five children a little fat intake or sugar won't do you bad and I'm sure you'll burn it off taken care of your family every day.☺Your Good!

Hormone fluctuations are really frustrating for women who are dieting as they can cause scale weight gain (really just fluid retention) that can make you feel your diet isn't working. It is! It is!! If you record your weight (dispassionately, if possible) daily you'll be able to detect the patterns associated with your cycles and the temporary gains will be less disturbing. Despite the ugliness going on in the world, you have lost 11 lbs and that's significantly positive and one thing your actions can influence. I can't say I have any great advice about how to stay strong, but I would say from your post and my own tendencies that you can overthink it with the worries about fiber, etc. I am trying this time to proceed with keto without logging every bit of food. I know where the wild carb things are (with kids you might get this literary reference) and just avoid them. I don't worry about "too much protein." Atkins always said most people will not overindulge on meat and I find that to be true for me.

Thanks murph! That is great advice and I appreciate the compliment more than you know! I don’t get compliments very often. It does seem like if I cheat even a tiny bit it reflects in big gains on the scale and takes days to get back to where I was. So frustrating. @trackin64–thank you so much for the advice and encouragement! Loved the “wild things” reference 😁 being female and dealing with hormone fluctuations definitely adds an added dimension to weight loss. Thanks everyone! Every comment and support gives me strength to keep going.

Do not think about eating healthy because you want to weight less. Eat healthy and exercise because it all slows down aging, it helps to keep a beautiful skin pigmentation, and elasticity also your hair looks way better when you eat healthy, it shines! Many times, the fact that you weight more after eating healthy doesn't mean you have gained fat weight but muscle weight instead which is great! Don't feel down, cheer up and take in consideration all the good your lifestyle does to your body. 😘💕

p.s. as long as your deficit is higher than your cal.intake you'll have no problem unless you're starving yourself with a low RDI.
