Wow! November already!!! Hard to believe, as it seems like it was just becoming SPRING days ago! :) Well, with Fall rapidly disappearing and Winter on it's way...I have a ton of chores on my 'chore list' that have been neglected.

Today's thought for the day - is about increasing daily activities.

Shouldn't be too hard w/ the list I have to work from! LOL!!

Can you challenge yourself to change something for 5 min's a day? or to change something 2 days a week? ETC...

Let's think about the wide variety of things we could change if we wanted to...increase our 'activity', as opposed to just dedicated exercise.

*Morning Stretching
*Squats at the door while waiting for the dogs to go out
*Kitchen counter pushups
*Stand UP whenever you're on the phone
*Fidget while sitting
*Squeeze exercises while in the car
*Park 10 spaces further away each week (from the door opening of wherever you are going)
*Get out of the car at the Bank (if they are open / instead of drive thru)
*Always pump your own gas
*Join a new dance class/bowling league/or go for walks at the Mall.
*Get up away from your desk / tv / or couch - every half hour...go to the bathroom if you have to...but get up and move around for 2-3 extra minutes.
*Go check your own mailbox.
*Stand and talk w/ a neighbor.
*Go walk around a park.

I am going to try to incorporate finding new ways to add activity. I generally am very active during the day...but even still, I will look for one or two things I can do to bring on an increase.

I certainly feel better, and have more energy now..than ever before. And keeping busy, getting ready for the holiday season, shopping, cooking, cleaning, etc.. will for sure bring on some added activity...and some great sleep at night when I fall into bed! But all in all - I believe sometimes we just get too accustomed to our daily routines.

If we benefit from the occasional 'mix it up' mindset w/ macronutrients (fat, calories, protein, carbs)... then surely we can benefit from a 'mix it up' mindset regarding activity.

If you have some suggestions of little things you do..to bring increased activity into your day...please share!

Much Love, and have a great day ya'll!

Great advice as always Paula. I have found several new things from your list that I am going to incorporate. While many of these are very simple tasks, every little bit helps to add up.

It sure does...and more than that, it changes the way we THINK about 'keeping busy'. Our lifestyle becomes more than just what we 'eat'...but about regaining a healthy thinking about daily life! Keli - I want it ALL. I may not have it all, I may never have it all...but it doesn't stop me from wanting it. And I am willing to work for it. If a little change here, or there, helps me to achieve an overall balance of Healthy, Fun, Energetic, and MINDFUL changes... than I'm up for the challenge. I just am not willing to keep the same old mindsets from yesteryear with a gorgeous new sexy body! They actually look rather ugly together!!! LOL!

Very true. I can't tell you the last time I saw someone that looked like Jennifer Anniston sitting lazily on the chaise downing bon bons while watching her soap operas.

Oh, that makes me laugh. My husband and I have a running joke about how many bon bons I managed to scarf down each day! LOL!! (If you had any idea how crazy busy I typically am w/ my Mom, kids, and household...you would get the joke!) He just loves to tease me! ;)

Thanks for the list....as a child, I remember my mom would do the "jitterbug" at the ironing board...it was fun to watch her dance and iron...as an adult, when I iron I find myself "bopping" to my ipod and thinking of times long gone bye.

Great ideas, Paula! I LIKE parking further away from the door of businesses.....unless I have to carry something in or if it's pouring rain - LOL! And, at the grocery store, I look around for a stray cart left somewhere out-of-the-way, walk out to get it, and use it as my own cart. Gives me a bit more walking and it's kind of my good deed for the day. After all, I'm going to need a cart the minute I get in the door anyway.

Sandy - that's awesome. And Gwen, love the ironing one! There are all kinds of ways to add extra activity if we're looking for them!

When I am doing laundry I try make myself stand up and fold them right out of the dryer on my folding table. My usual is to park it on the couch. Instead of yelling for my kids I go find them and talk to them, I'm sure they appreciate this too and I also do yoga with my kids. You've got some good ideas in there. It's the little things that can make a huge difference. Carrying music with you, like your ipod isn't something that i've thought of. A little extra motivation to wiggle it while doing boring chores.
