First stop, Journal. Then I will be on to reading and catching up w/ you all.
WOW!!! is an understatement to the TRIP of a LIFETIME! As soon as I can get a couple of pics on here, I will. We left home on Sept 6th - hubby was feeling great (back to normal - thank God!) and stayed feeling great the whole trip!!!! We flew from Boston to Paris, then on to Naples. This is a long travel day - then picked up by a driver and we went to Pompeii for an afternoon of pic's and sights.
During the drive over to the Amalfi Coast we stopped for a 'snack' at a Cafe/Bar overlooking the Mediterranean. WOW!!!! Breathtakingly beautiful.
On to our hotel - OK - WOW!!!! Breath takingly Beautiful!
From Rovello, Amalfi, Positano, Capri, Boat rides, Trail Walking, Villages w/ Wine... OH MY!!!! AMAZING! Then on to Paestum, Vesuvius and back to the airport.
The return trip gave us enough time to leave the airport in Rome. We again had a driver who took us to the Trevi Fountain in old rome center, and the Colosseum, a ride around Rome to see some highlights and for pics...then an amazing dinner, back to our room, then off early to the airport again.
We left for a layover to Paris, then as we were taking off back to Boston... we saw the Eiffel Tower from the plane!!!
OH MY HEAD!
Just pinch me.... can't even begin to describe it all, but what an amazing adventure. The people were so nice, helpful and just simply warm. The food was delicious... the settings to picturesque. A lot of outdoor eating (which I love!). The narrow roads and the cars/buses a bit scary but fun! It was all just so romantic and beautiful and WOW!!!
But to be honest... hubby and I both commented how we never want to be on vacation again where we are thinking...'Wow, I look terrible in that pic..' So, back to the low carb way of eating, exercise and getting this back in the right direction!
I have about 8 months until our next BIG vacation - our 25th Anniversary, and we both agreed we would use that as our motivation to be in better shape by then.
All in all, I wouldn't change anything. It was literally...A TRIP of a LIFETIME!

Hey Guys, Hubby is still doing well. Better each day. I am so grateful, so excited, and SO looking forward to this amazing trip we are about to go on.
All during the time my mom lived with us, I used to talk about and fantasize about taking a trip to Italy for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. My mom used to say... "just go NOW!...while you feel healthy and well" - unbeknownst to me, my Mom ... made my hubby promise her... that just in case she wasn't alive at my 50th Birthday... he would surprise me and give me a trip to Italy (both from her and him).
She died last year about 13months ago... and she had him go out and get her a birthday card that was all mushy and lovey... so she could sign it (she couldn't write much after her strokes). Most beautiful chicken scratch ever!!!!!
It took me a week just to be able to speak about it (after he gave it to me.) And he didn't give it to me on my B-day... if you remember, my cousin gave me a girl's trip w/ a cruise to Mexico. Which I had a blast, and I assumed HE had a part in. My kids took me out to dinner and that was awesome. I seriously had no idea he had something ELSE up his sleeve.
So after I had been home for almost two weeks after my birthday week trip south... and there was this moment that I teared up as we were reminiscing about my Mom w/ the kids... he said he had something he wanted to show me on the computer.
He started a slide show that was 30+ slides of our lives together, places we've been, pics of the kids... they each had clues written on them in some kind of Powerpoint slideshow thing... it was FREAKIN' AMAZING!
Mind you this is all from a man I didn't think had an 'emotional' bone in his body!!!!!!!!!! (ever logical, yes!~emotional...not so much!)
By the end of the slide show...I was balling - and when that final slide said we were going to the Amalfi Coast in Italy...Love, Hubby and YiaYia (which is what we called my Mom - means Grammie in Greek) - I turned and looked at him ... and he handed me a card, w/ her handwriting and my Name on the outside.
OMG I thought I was going to pass out.
One of the most beautiful moments of my life.
So I couldn't be more grateful for every prayer said, every positive energy... whatever... to see hubby feeling back to himself and we are definitely going.. priceless!
Thanks Mom... you are the best!

Today is hubby's first day back at work (in 11 days), so I am praying he does well today. He's only been on two tylenol for discomfort, as needed, and seems to be doing ok.
This type of illness is so random. And the more I read, it's sooooo common. Some of it might be genetics - but in large part they think years of being out of shape, and eating a processed foods kind of diet puts too much 'strain' on your lower intestine/colon.
Anyway - this attack is just a symptom of a condition that has been inside him for quite some time. And who knows IF or WHEN it could happen again.
Overall, he's to get on a High Fiber Way of Eating, Drink plenty of fluids (mainly water) and get some weight off and start exercising regularly.
Sounds like advice he was given 5 years ago from someone special :) !!
Still, seeing him in that kind of pain - TERRIBLE. Let's just focus on keeping him well, and following through with the above to do list, and praying that keeps him from having another attack.
Thanks for all your love and support through this. Much Appreciated.
Will keep you posted on how his work week goes... We have until Sat before Departure to make a decision.

So, here's where we are at.... Hubby is on a 'soft foods' diet, and progressing. Still taking two antibiotics. Dr recommended refilling and taking them with us ... just in case.
Started hubby on a probiotic about 5 days ago. He wants to start to transition to a higher fiber way of eating w/ a Metamucil caplet and the probiotic... by the weekend... to see how he tolerates all this.
Anyone have any experience w/ all of this kind of stuff?
He's been good about drinking lots of water all day - but I am nervous about moving him back into a high fiber way of eating, although everything I read suggests that is best for him. (eventually)
What do you think?

Anyone else married to a STUBBORN man! LOL! He's insistent there is no way he is cancelling this trip!!! Sure will be doing a lot of praying between now and next Saturday.
He did promise me he would be honest about his overall condition. Right now he seems to be feeling a bit less sore, and a little more normal as each day passes.
He is still on soft foods, lots of water, and antibiotics. (and a probiotic thrown in for good measure!)
That will likely stay that way as much as possible for the entire trip. We're just going to take this week one day at a time. If we need to re/schedule we can do it on Thurs or Friday,...just as easily as today. So... I'll keep you posted!
