I'm a 48 year old female in Michigan...living in the woods and loving every minute of it! Promised myself that I would get into my best shape by my 50th birthday which is in 2012. I'm a yo-yo dieter...but never reached 200 lbs. I play golf and used to play softball (28+years)...too many injuries for our team. I thought I was eating right along with exercising...until I read an article about Low Carb. It was an "ahha" moment for me. I started counting up the carbs I ate in a day and I was amazed. i was concentrating on high fiber, NO REFINED flour products (no white bread or pasta or rice). Stuck to the brown and whole grain. I also follow weight watchers for years - on and off. I couldn't get the weight off. with atkins I've lost 7.5 in a month which is fine...i'd rather keep it off FOREVER!!! I'm also Christian.

One important hint I read about is keep your DAILY ratio's at the following percentages:
FAT = 60-70%
PROTEIN = 20-30%
CARBS = 5-105

Also, I went to www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator to find out more ACCURATELY how many calories I should eat. ATKINS had me eating 400+ more than my TOP number suggested by the BMR calculator. Atkis said 2,100 and the BMR calculator says 1,500-1,700. I have been shedding weight like crazy since...also 8 cups of water a day. Good luck..and if your clothes feel good that's 1/2 the battle!

Kinect or Wii???
I have the WII PERSONAL TRAINER program (has resistance band, cardio, sports, etc, keeps track of weight, food, etc.). This is very good. I also have the GOLD'S GYM DANCE WORKOUT for the Wii and I use it ALL THE TIME. It's high cardio (it has a personal trainer as well). I say ANY movement is better than NO movement. I'm not an "intense" workout person, however I do like to excercise. So this is perfect for me...and it BURNS CALORIES...! Good luck~

Wii Fit Plus
Yes! I acutally started with that and use it with GOLD'S GYM DANCE WORKOUT (for the Wii) and the Wii PERSONAL TRAINER program is AWESOME! It's like your own trainer. My favorite is the DANCE because I hate working out and I LOVE dancing...so I knew it would keep me moving and interested. I think it's a GREAT investment. Just sayin'. Good luck and congrats on the 28 lbs!!

New To Atkins
Did you do the lessons on the ATKINS website? I did them today and learned a lot. I've been in induction for 4 weeks. I plan to stay until I get withing 10-15 of goal. Unless I get crazy bored...so far not the case. I learned about salt intake and how important it is in induction. 2 cups of broth a day will help. another suggestion is to figure out your BMR Basal Metabolic Rate (go and "bing" a BMR CALCULATOR) which will give you a good idea of what your calories should be...don't forget to adjust it too as you lose weight. You may want to remain on induction for a while...and DRINK ALL THE WATER! that's my big challenge...and coffee. Good luck!
