Looking for Buddies
I have only been on here a little over a week... and I, too, am looking for diet support buddies. I started losing weight about 3 months ago and have lost 25 pounds. I want to lose at least another 50- 75 more. I am a 40 year old female... married for 18 years and have 3 young children (10, 7, and 5 years old). I let my weight creep up on me when I started having kids. All my life I was always thin and I am determined to lose this weight! The last 3 months I have been eating around 1800 calories a day and exercising, but have hit a plateau and yesterday went to a calorie intake of 1200 - 1300 a day and I have uped my exercise routine. Maybe we can conquer this weight loss journey together and be a support system through the ups and downs!

I HATE THE SCALE
Hang in there! It sounds like you are doing the right things. I used to never get on the scale because of the yo yo effect of numbers. However, a close friend told me to hang in there and continue to get on the scales every morning and every night. In the past 3 months I have lost 25 pounds and there are times that for a week at a time the scales would stay in a 5 pound boundary going up and down and up and down. But then it would happen... I would weigh in after a week of yo yo weighing and I would have a new low weigh in! Another thing I have been told is that make sure you are eating enough calories. Sometimes we cut our calories back so much that our bodies start to store everything as fat. Our bodies need plenty of fuel (food) to have energy to lose weight. My husband says I eat more now than I ever have. Get your goal weight and multiply it by 11. This should be the amount of calories you eat per day. However make sure that you keep eating healthy... and continue to exercise and drink lots of water. Your patience and determination will pay off!

UGH
I have tried the Master Cleanse diet and as soon as it was over my metabolism had slowed down so much that I became heavier than ever! Our bodies have to have food. I have lost 25 pounds in the last 3 months but still have 50 more to go! However after much research found that you have to eat quite a bit to keep your body losing weight. It is not the quantity you eat... it is the choices we make of what to eat. If you want the pounds to come off... don't starve your body. Choose foods low in sugar and count your calories. Find a goal weight and multiply it by 11. Eat this many calories per day, but with healthy food... not sweets and fried foods. And find at least 30 minutes a day to get your body moving... whatever fits your lifestyle. You will be surprised how fast the pounds start to melt away and you will not be hungry.
