I am currently reading The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do In Life and Business by Charles Duhigg. It is a pretty good read. Duhigg shares the research about habit and interweaves stories about famous brands and how they used the science of habit to establish themselves in the marketplace. Duhigg says that Habit is made up of three things: cue, routine and reward. If we do the same set of cue, routine and reward then we start having cravings for the reward and associate the routine with the reward. He also said that habits never really die. We can break habits by replacing routines or avoiding cues but old routines can easily come back. It really made me think of what happens when I go out to dinner. My boyfriend always gets on my case for eating too quickly when we go out to eat. He usually eats half of his food by the time I am done. I have always been a fast eater. Duhigg is making me think about what could be some of my cues and rewards that I associate with eating.

July I felt more in control of food than ever before. I thought I would take it to the next level by planning out my meals and bagging them. I sorted out all my snacks and made salad for the week. C thinks I went alittle over board but we will see. God, if I get food down like I got my gym routine down I will be set! Then I can focus on my finances. I wonder if there is a finance secret website :P. I love how empowering it feels to get control over something that you felt helpless against. I think the community aspect of this website is really powerful. I really get inspired and encouraged by the fs users.

Feeling very inspired by my fs buddies' journal entries. I had a terrific eating week and I feel great. I just finished buying my weekly groceries and plan on making/bagging my meals for the next two days. I finally feel like I am starting to get control over food. Can't wait to see what suggestions my nutritionist gives me on Tuesday. Boot camp really kicked my behind yesterday. Was supposed to do legs and shoulders today but entire lower body was so sore that I decided to take a day to rest. Hope everyone keeps up the great work (and posts about it).

Its the Olympics Baby!!!! They are starting today and I could not be happier.
I love fs because it really opens your eyes to certain foods. I never realized how healthy salmon and chicken were. So little fat and calories compared to the protein you get. I think I will try to make 2 chicken dishes a week and one salmon.
My new post lift obsession is protein smoothies. Soy milk, protein powder, fresh strawberries and banana. When I finish my strawberry protein powder I will move onto banana and peanut butter smoothies with vanilla protein powder.
Working out has been awesome. Eating is not bad too. Meeting my Nutritionist on the 31. I am just going to print out a month's work of fatsecret eating journals and see what she says.
Lets go team USA!!!!!

I am switching to jefit.com to keep track of my workouts. Still using FS for my food log. Also planning on doing heavy lifting three days a week and cardio on the other days. On lift days going to eat as close to 2600 calories as possible. On cardio days going to eat 1300 calories. Lets see if it works.
