My name is Jillian. I am 28 years old. I live in an amazingly progressive community in rural Wisconsin. That picture of me was taken in New Zealand in May. I wanted so badly to get my dreads in the ocean, but the tide was out...way out. I was so sad.

I have 2 kids. My daughter, Rhavenn, is 6 and will be a first grader at our local Waldorf school, and my son, Breckin, is 2 1/2. My husband and I would like to have another baby soon, but I need to lose some weight first. So here I am.

I wish this wasn't as much of a "secret."
I'm not Christian.
I'm not offended.
I'm actually Pagan...more specifically I follow a path of Native American Spirituality.
I find peace and wisdom in nature.
That's what my secret is.
What's yours?

stomach problems, heart palpatations and pain response
Are you using Splenda (sucralose) as a sweetener? If so, you may want to check out this website. Several of your symptoms are listed as side effects of sucralose consumption.

Hot Lemon Water
***Hot lemon water with breakfast-juice of half a lemon to 8 ounces of hot water. Lemon juice promotes intestinal contractions that speed toxin elimination, and hot water stimulates gastric nerves for the most efficient detox.

I don't think that it's going to throw your diet totally off if you do cold water instead. I like to sweeten mine with organic evaporated cane juice...it looks and tastes a lot like white sugar, but it's not processed and bleached. Someone mentioned Splenda, which may be technically ok for fat flush, but beware...it may be derived from sugar, but it is highly processed.

Thought vs. Reality
As I was browsing through the member journals, I couldn't help but notice a trend. A large percentage of members actually write that they aren't sure they can do this or that they are bad at dieting or other statements of negativity. The problem with talking that way about anyone is that the person starts to believe it...even if it's yourself. Your thoughts really do become your reality. If you tell yourself that you can't do it (no matter what it is), then guess what...you won't be able to. The same goes if you tell yourself that you really can do something...you are much more likely to succeed. This road to weight loss may be difficult, but continue to believe in yourself. The moment you stop believing that you really can lose weight and be more healthy....that's the moment you'll fail. So, believe in yourself. And if you stumble now and then on the diet plan, get back on your feet and continue with your day as originally planned. A cheat should be thought of as a single event, not as an entire day. We can do this. I believe in you!

For Those Who Are Considering Alli
Alli may work, with or without the nasty side (ie. diarrhea, spontaneous oily discharge, nutritional deprivation, fatigue, joint & muscle pain, sleeplessness, increased risk of respiratory and kidney infections, menstrual problems, and vaginal inflammation, etc.), but it surely isn't for everyone. There are other fat blockers out there. Here is a part of an article from First magazine (4/16/07) investigative report...

Smart Strategy: Try other Fat Blockers First
"Alli may be FDA-approved, but it's not the only fat blocker on the market," points out First nutrition expert Ann Louise Gittleman, Ph.D. She says the natural products below (which can't be patented, so companies are unwilling to undergo the expensive process that leads to FDA approval) provide BETTER weight-loss results without risk of gastrointestinal woes and nutrient loss.

**Calcium**
Women who took at least 1800 mg of calcium daily absorbed TWO AND A HALF TIMES LESS FAT than those who didn't, according to a study in the International Journal of Obesity. That's why the calcium takers lost an average of three pounds per week. Health perks: stronger bones, stronger hair and nails, clearer skin, and more energy.
[I asked my doctor about this. She told me not to take this much calcium if I had a history of kidney stones, and otherwise not to do this for more that 6 months]

**CLA**
Subjects in a University of Wisconsin at Madison study who took 3000 mg of the healthy fat congugated linoleic acid (CLA) daily lost 10 percent of their belly fat in three months and kept the weight off throughout the two-year study. The presence of CLA in the intestines seems to result in less digestion of unhealthy triglyceride fats in the gut. Health perks: lower LDL ("bad" ) cholesterol, improved blood sugar control and increased resistance to viruses.
