Well, went over RDI yesterday but hope it balanced out by my starting to do my 35 minute Yoga dvd. Second day of doing it today and it feels good to MOVE. It's a great dvd by Maya Fiennes called Detox and Destress so it helps my kidneys healing as well as, of course, the breathing which helps the heart/lungs. Some of the movements I have to do a bit slower that she does but will work up to her pace over time.

My daughter gave me this dvd last year because she bought the whole set - a different workout for each day of the week that covers all the organs. She's now addicted to it. Gets up at 5:30am to do it before work. She is my height but wears a size 4 jeans! And she's 45 years old and is totally flexible. Inspiring. When I get back to working think I'll buy the set, too.

Have a blessed day, everyone.

A whole new world to me: after Atkins' diet to have my doc tell me (due to my kidney function having been impaired and needing a rest) that I need to cut back on meat and get more proteins from rice/bean type foods. To cut back on protein of all types in fact temporarily. I never knew the kidneys had a hard time filtering protein.

But, since I'm on a low sodium diet the canned beans are outrageous in their sodium content so got brave and soaked garbanzas, adzuki and lentils last night, and simmered them this AM. (they are ZERO sodium) Was so easy I don't know what I was worried about. Packaged them in one serving baggies and froze them so that I have lots of 'grab and heat and eat' beans to add to rice or soup broth or salads. Also made a crockpot full of brown rice and froze those servings, too. I feel very healthy and courageous and efficient! Dug out my old Moosewood Restaurant cookbook and got a bit excited about making some fresh soups and rice pudding!

My doc said don't try to lose weight yet but am still trying to keep my RDI below 1400K.

I was afraid eating the carbs would start my cravings again, but strangely, it has not. I am wondering if it's SALT that makes one crave more.....hmmmm. Because I find fruit and fresh veggies so sweet they satisfy and I really am not hungry between meals. Interesting.....
