In late 2011, I weighed 227 pounds and was diagnosed with liver function failure. I was told that if I did not change my lifestyle, I would get gall stones and would eventually need my gall bladder removed. I got effin scared! I don't want to be cut open at all. This bad news totally motivated me to lose weight.

I read like a dozen books on diet and exercise and steadily lost about two pounds a week. My goal was to ultimately shed 100 pounds. Well, I lost 82 pounds, got to 145 and got a bit… sidetracked. My motivation to lose weight flew out the window and I got comfortable in a size 9. I really think that wearing dresses sized at a single number did miracles for me. I was so happy... so happy that I lost focus and stopped losing weight. This was at the end of 2012.

Well, hello 150s and 2018. I'm learning it's not just about the scale. There is so much to health and wellness, and I am open to learning as much as I can so that I can truly, holistically care for the body that was given to me. Here's to progressing and shedding together.

Does Wine Help With Weight Loss?
I think it depends how far you are in your weight loss. If you still have a lot to go, I wouldn't play with wine. Who knows what's right, but I know everyone's body is different and will react differently to things that seem obviously good or bad for your weight loss journey. I wouldn't have messed with alcohol at all in the beginning when 100 pounds seemed like a ing road. I would now since I'm closer to my goal, although some people would argue that I should keep to the straight arrow. I have a drink or two here and there now, approximating like 1-2 drinks a month. Some self-reflections might help you in deciding, maybe?
