Working mother of grown kids, menopause and a few life changes have caused weight gain to be a problem. 30 pounds gained in 11 months. I wish to get rid of them and stop this nonsense. Finding time to exercise is difficult, as my job sucks the life out of me and after work I am currently pretty useless. Before work isn't working due to some scheduling difficulties, but I am determined to find the time and energy to get fit again. I'm planning on getting married in about a year, and I'd really love to rock that dress. I also love softball and paintball, and both of those are hard to do when my weight goes over 127. That is the magic number for joint pain with running. I need to get back on it so those things can be fun again!

mood swings and weight
Yep. Mood swings like crazy. My weight gain was rather sudden and relatively severe. I'm not adjusting to it very well. I deal with it by working on this diet and exercise thing. Some things are in my control, some aren't. I just try to focus on those things I can alter. Oh, and when you feel really horrid, force a big smile for 10 or 15 seconds. It helps if you do that a lot.

What are your biggest secrets/tips?
I try to diet with the way I eat in mind. I'm a grazer, and I know from experience that there is just no fighting that. So, I'm planning for grazing food with very few calories. I had gotten into a bad habit of grazing on whatever was handy. In just a week of fresh veggie grazing, there is a giant change in my total calorie intake. It's nice.

Fiber
I already eat healthy foods, generally speaking. I need fiber for cholesterol control. Family genetics thing. I just have a hard time getting enough fiber, especially on a lower calorie diet for weight loss. Makes it difficult. But, I had forgotten about lentils. Those things have a ton of fiber in them.
