adefwebserver's Journal, 29 May 2021

Because I ran 5 miles a day, 4 days a week, I had an 8k calorie deficit this week.

Did not lose a pound.

What is true for me:

* Every time I have lost weight I have had a calorie deficit
* Every time I have had a calorie deficit I have not always lost weight

(basically I only lose weight when I maintain <20 carbs a day for days/weeks. This is only possible when having a calorie deficit)

😎 Life is Good! Have a great day everyone!
195.0 lb Lost so far: 12.0 lb.    Still to go: 31.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

PS - How do I embed a hyperlink in an FS post? I got (b)bolding(/b) and underlining to work. Tried the reddit format (text)[link] and ahref without success...

Sometimes we burn less than we think we do, and consume more calories than we're aware of. I took a peek at your meal plan, and I would try reducing your caloric intake to 1600/day for starters. That should bump you out of your holding pattern. Losing weight is about eating less, and has little to do with just exercising. Exercising is wonderful, but eating like a 165 lb. man rather than like a 200 lb. man is what will drop the fat.

I've also taken a look at your full diet calendar, it say's you've averaged 1500 kcal per day for the last 4 weeks with a 900 kcal deficit compared to exercise. With these numbers you should of lost 3.2 kg over 4 weeks yet you've gained 1 kg. My last 4 weeks were, 1500 in, 1800 out, for a total difference of 8400 kcal. Yet I've lost 3 kg / 23,100 kcal.

Adef, it is a scientific fact that it you eat fewer calories than you burn, you will lose weight (certain medical conditions/medicines can alter this temporarily). Reevaluating how you are counting calories eaten may help you find a better path to weight loss. Good luck on your journey. 🌈

Hang in there, Adef. You and I both have done the math and found it lacking. Although I certainly do CICO, I cannot lose consistently until I am approaching an 700-1000 calorie deficit. Nine years of my stats are available for experts to review up here. Everything is weighed and calorie burn is measured by the latest Fitbit.
