Worked in the yard yesterday, the semi-annual battle with the night jasmine. Jasmine is still winning. After working in the yard in flip flops all day, put on some sturdy shoes for a walk and promptly did something to my ankle. Pushed through for a medium walk. Need to work on ankle strengthening exercises again. Or watch where I step. Or both.

Ran some new hoses to the remote corners of the yard, not really something I'd mention except that they are the exact same color green of a grass snake, which we had when I lived in Georgia and there is that flash of visceral fear through my body when I see it in the corner of my eye. It is a nonvenomous snake and I'm cool with most creatures, but I have to catch my breath every time. My snake tolerance status is okay with them in controlled environments. I do not like the ones that fall out of trees at all. I am not good with that. At all. The crow has become a regular at the fountain but is extremely camera shy. The hooded orioles are definitely nesting in the yard, I'm so excited. The birds are back, so I'm happy. Still lacking on hummingbirds. Only two regulars. Hoping the nest in the front worked out. Nature though, so who knows.

It seems that if I want to work on losing the blob that I have to go lower and move less because I get hungry when I really move. It's a tricky balance and I do not want to lose muscle or cardio fitness. I think we'll save recomp until fall when it starts getting dark and I don't move as much. I'm mentally in a pretty good place, so will keep moving and eating. Will roll back to 4 pieces of my chocolate on a regular basis (25 cal each) and quit indulging as I have been the last couple of days. It all adds up. The catch is that the work insanity will run through the end of September now. Ugh. Really miss my work bestie, too.

I really need to figure out how to squeeze some money out of my budget for some house help. Now that I have my vaccine, I can let the electrician back in the house to fix the outlet in the kitchen and then I have an issue with a corner of the deck, it all adds up. Going to see if I can do a temporary fix on that while the price of lumber is still nuts. Just been a tsunami of stuff lately and I have zero time to do it myself. I don't know how the heck I passed the adult test and survived this long some days. Very relieved we're back on the repair the dryer track. The difference between renters and relatives is that you cannot stall on anything when it's your own mom and it's not like I'm going to send her to the local laundromat to dry her clothes.

Anyways, enough sitting down time. Gotta jet. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
