Day 2 of a planned 2 days of eating
Blood sugar 106 mg/dL

I finally got my Omron Fat Loss Monitor to read 20% body fat 😊

I need it to read 15%-10% body fat to β€˜see my abs’. I clearly have a lot of work to do…

I have been re-reading articles on autophagy. This is a reason for fasting that is not for weight loss (even though that will happen). This is a reason for fasting, even when I just re-gain the weight when I start eating.

Here is the article: How to renew your body:
Fasting and autophagy

” What turns off autophagy? Eating. Glucose, insulin (or decreased glucagon) and proteins all turn off this self-cleaning process. And it doesn’t take much. Even a small amount of amino acid (leucine) could stop autophagy cold. So this process of autophagy is unique to fasting – something not found in simple caloric restriction or dieting.

There is a balance here, of course. You get sick from too much autophagy as well as too little. Which gets us back to the natural cycle of life – feast and fast. Not constant dieting. This allows for cell growth during eating, and cellular cleansing during fasting – balance. Life is all about balance.”

- Dr. Jason Fung

Cool. That is really great on an Omron! I look forward to autophagy in April as I expect to do three 36-hour fasts per week with alternate day fasting. PS. I have an Omron that I am not using. If anybody wants it, fire me off a PM and I'll ship it to you (US only please).

@Draglist - The main thing that I am hoping to get from the autophagy is to tighten my skin. I feel my skin is in good shape after losing 40 pounds in 4 months because I was fasting so much at the time. I haven't fasted much in the past 7 months. My skin is doing ok, but, I think I can do better...

Good luck with that. I want the same thing but I was watching some YouTube by Simm Land that sort of put some cold water on my expectations. I think you are doing what you need to do by working out...

Draglist, I want it, please, if it's still available 😊

Hi, Keilin! It's yours! PM me your address and I'll get it out to you.

OMG! Thank you, I will try, if not I will comment my address on one of your posts for a few minutes. I don't have a computer, my husband does but he is working far away. I am really bad using FatSecret in the web site with my phone.

@Phil - Glad to see you're back! People like you and @Draglist told me to 'do my thing' and gave me support. Now, I'm trying to see my abs Haha - - my one year Fat Secret anniversary of 'journaling' is tomorrow :)

@Keilin_4 - The Omron is more accurate than my Tanita scale. That thing has my body fat at 10%. The Omron will return readings +-1%-2% so I consider it 'reliable'. Going for a lower body fat is more productive for me than going for a lower weight.

Great quote from Fung --- thanks!

@HardDaysKnight - Yeah Dr. Fung has really helped me concentrate on "insulin reduction" and that is how I lost my initial weight, and his 'protein reduction' has allowed me to finally start losing again. I am getting back into 'pure water fasting' because he clearly states 'why' it works.

I know, it would be interesting to read my body fat percentage.
25 Mar 19 by member: Keilin_4
My scale is not accurate neither, I have a cheap one , but it was reading over 30% when I started, I am now 17%-19%
