Day 1 of a planned 2 day 'no solid food fast'

Blood sugar 90 mg/dL

💥 What If I cannot 'change myself' but I can 'do things differently'? 💥

For example:

👎🏾 I cannot stop myself from 'binging' when I eat and I can't seem to keep my carbs below 20
👍🏾 I don't eat solid food most days

👎🏾 I am addicted to Sugar
👍🏾 Consume Splenda

👎🏾 I can't seem to stick to the recommended exercise plan
👍🏾 I just do the exercises I enjoy (even if others don't recommend them)

I'm 50 years old, there are things about myself that, while I have tried REALLY hard, are just not going to change. Happiness is impossible without acceptance (really, try it). 😎 In the end, happiness is the most important thing to me.

🧘🏾‍♂️ So I am willing to 'try new things' and 'do things differently', but thinking I am going to 'change' unrealistic.

Yesterday was an 'eating' day. I know that once I start eating I start 'binging' so my usual 'do things differently' is to start eating as late in the day as possible. However, a last minute schedule change altered that plan and I started eating at noon...

… So I 'took the hit'. A 2lbs gain is to be expected when I suck down 6 times as many carbs as I normally consume :) On any given day this is what I do. This is why, until 6 months ago, I have been obese all my adult life. What I 'do differently' today is plan to drink Green Tea during the day and having only a protein shake tonight.

I have a business lunch on Wednesday so I can only fast two days. starting today off with a run🏃🏾.

🏋🏾 I still plan to hit the hotel gym on Tuesday, but since I can't do my squats at the hotel gym (no hotel gym has a weight bar and a stand to allow you to do squats), I went to the gym Saturday and Sunday this weekend to make up for the 'stunted' workout I will get this week.

Have a great day everyone!

You CAN do ANYTHING you put your mind to - you have already shown that in many ways so don't sell yourself short :) - but please, get rid of the splenda or cut way down - I know you read a ton so you have to have read what it may do to you - don't want you to get any of its potential problems - so strange to see only a 2 day fast ;) - hope your presentation goes great!!

I agree you can do what you put your mind to and a suggestion for those eating days is to have some high / fat high protein snacks available. if you can start on something that has no carbs then the room for those low carb treats you like will be smaller. that is something different. options would be canned salmon and no sugar mayo, I have a feeling you would not cook for yourself to offer other things,,,,something your wife invents for you like the bacon egg fat bombs. I am sure she has gotten creative and can think of options to make you fat/ protein bombs for you to snack on. I truly like real food over treats. You know you will get to the treats on these days but putting it off like you plan with your eating later with quality food may help. and even when you eat these lower carb treats the damage is so much less then going for the high carb treats as you did before. one workout and one fast brings you back on track. It is all about making options. You have been doing great with controlling things and need to enjoy lifes little pleasures too! You will figure it out! and try to get your fat to protein level more even. with no carb or low carb you need the fat to balance your protein intake

@nikeit - I will try to 'reduce' the Splenda as much as I can because I know that I am consuming 'real carbs' with 'granulated' Splenda, and reducing 'carbs' is what I am after. But, I may 'fail' and that will be ok :)

Well, if it isn't okay to 'fail' then just shoot me now! :)

@Baskington - That is a good idea! I will try some fat bombs to snack on for work next week (I'm off for the rest of the week this week). Gonna take some testing to see how it affects me, but in the past they did not cause a 'carb craving' (of course they shouldn't). Thanks!

Why do you have carb foods in the house if you can't resist them? (I'm single, so I am able to make all the grocery choices at my house) Maybe it's time to break your sweets craving - having as much Splenda as you describe, just keeps you addicted. Just sayin' -

@gz9gjg - There are days I do eat, and because I lift I do need to consume carbs at various times. But, we actually have very few carb food in the house. Nice thing about having ALL people in the house on Keto :)

good deal! high fat and no sweetener ones are what I would focus on. You will still be having your Splenda laced coffee I am sure. it will be an interesting addition. if you respond like I do the higher fat takes care of any hunger and brings the ketones up stabilized the glucose I am very happy with 4 to 4.5 all day. after exercise I did drop that 4.9 ketone level to 3.7 and the glucose stayed at 4.1. got a little shakey but I think the ketones are taking care of that now

I find that once I start eating carbs I can't stop, so I try to keep away from them. I'm learning still what veg and so on I can eat without a trigger - yesterday I had about 10 chips (fries) and ended up eating cake luckily I then realised and stopped.

Never say never Adef. One day you may just decide - I'm done with the binging and being addicted. Happened to me, do don't like to rule anything out. :)
