Day 3 of a planned 5 day 'no solid food fast'

Blood sugar 88 mg/dL

👍🏾 Did I keep my net carbs below 10? Yes!
👎🏾 Did I keep my protein below 90g? No
👎🏾 Is my morning blood sugar in the 70s? No

The good thing about gaining so much weight yesterday was that it reminded me that I am not God and I actually do not have 'control'. I can only do my best and whatever will happen will happen. I really enjoy my 🥛 protein shakes during the day so I had as much as I wanted. I probably would have dropped more weight if I hadn't done this, but I am happier when I get my massive hit of Splenda through the day. I'm in it for the long haul so I have to stay as 'comfortable' as I want at any given time.

I see some posts about people thinking of reducing their calories or fasting. For those people, here are a few things I learned along the way:

🌟 For months I averaged 600 calories a day. I discovered this was very 'threatening' to a lot of people. Many feel that if this were truly possible, truly safe, what they have believed would be untrue. If so, would 'they' have pressure on them to do the same? They don't want this, so they will fight vehemently against this.

🌟 So, they will attack you. They will be relentless. Now, they don't care about you. They really don't care if you stay fat. They don't care you can't climb stairs and that you feet are numb. All they care about is that you do not 'spread' this 'blasphemy'. This is 'religion'. People attack others beliefs because they feel that if the 'other religion' 'spreads' it will threaten their religion. A lot of people do-not-want to come on FatSecret and be faced with a ton of people 'fasting'! This would be VERY stressful to them.

🧘🏾‍♂️ So I had to find MY motivation. I was turning 50 and had been a fat obese guy ALL my adult life. I was not going to continue to believe what others believe and never have the body I dreamed of all my life.

😎 So, I flat out ignored people. I found the small handful of supporters and ignored the detractors. Now, I do forgive them, because I can understand their fears. However, I continue to do what I need to do.

💪🏾 I post on my Journal because the handful of others on this site that were fasting gave me vital support. I want to do the same for others.

Anyway, off for a 🏃🏾 run. It is going to rain in Southern California so I wont get to walk during lunch and after work. Calorie wise it wont make of a difference, but I REALLY enjoy the mental benefit.

I completely understand you, but people keep saying that if you eat too little calories you are not going to lose weight, but you are the proof that they are wrong. Keep doing your thing! 😎

And is your belly still gone?? with weight in range it is time to stop worrying about the scale and only concern yourself with your body shape. I stopped worrying about the scale when I got within a couple pounds because honestly I don't know what my ideal weight will be. once I build muscle and get the shape I want I will be thrilled!

@baskington - Yes! Yes! That IS the problem I am having! Should I call 169lbs my 'low weight' and should I stop now? The mirror looks great, BUT, I still don't have 'ripped abs'. I suspect that I need to keep lifting and bulking in the 160lbs range to get them. But, hey my concern today is no longer my 'belly' but my 'abs' :)

Yes, our body shape is what matters, I stopped worrying about weight loss already, if it happens I will take it if not I will be fine. And the day you start eating more I will be happy for you (because eat is good) , we know that you are doing a great job, but if you can enjoy at least one meal a day it would be great. Baskington's diet sounds good 😏😋

Ok go to your 160 🤗, and I am going to buy me a mirror, I like the person on the mirror but I don't have a good mirror here. I think I look better on the mirror than what I think

Thank you for this post! I've been doing IF and getting grief from people, despite the fact that I feel great (better than I have in a long time) mentally and physically. Fortunately, the people who I care about and who care about me (my fiance, mom, siblings, etc.) are supportive and can tell that it's working for me. You're an inspiration to me. Keep up the good work!

Hold on. You add Splenda to your quest Shakes? Wow. I’m feeling a sugar rush just thinking about it lol. Artificial or natural sugar has the same effect on me.

My hubby the diplomat :) You look amazing baby and I am so proud of you and even more happy for you that you have the body you have always wanted! For you friends who are concerned you should know that through this entire process Michael has felt great, remained his normal self with no mood swings and had his normal energy level. How he has gotten there is not for me either but it has worked extremely well for him with zero ill side effects...just sayin :)

@kaylinrenee - My weight loss doesn't stop, but it *SEEMS* to slow from its normal 1-2 pound a day loss, when I am fasting, and I take in 100g+ of Protein.

@Swedishblondie - In regards to my Splenda usage in Quest Shakes, I cannot defend my actions :) But, Sugar is my only 'drug'. But, a hit of this in hot water is so satisfying my body is like "What fast? Were doing fine :)"
