i did a strenuous 10 mile hike Saturday then binge ate the next two days...not enough to warrant a 11lbs gain though. i have to admit that seeing the huge jump on the scale has made me question my weight loss...how much of it is real fat loss and how much is just the water weight you lose when switching to low carb? I'm back on track today but my heart is barely in it...just trying to keep my chin up...I'll be glad when this water weight is gone and I'm back to 242 and can make it into new terrain..
253.0 lb Lost so far: 20.0 lb.    Still to go: 63.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

great job on the hike - always nice to get out into nature. fat loss and muscle gain will make it seem like the scale isn't moving - but progress is happening. keep at your plan and the results will continue.

This has got to be so frustrating. I’ve wondered the same thing...is my weight loss mostly water? I can feel my body getting thinner so maybe not but the scale is so hard to ignore. Please don’t give up!! The weight will go back down. I know your heart is struggling to stay committed...maybe go do something you enjoy (non food related) today so you can feel positive and happy. Sharon, Read your weight in's and there's no way you gained 11lbs of fat in four days..boy I'll tell ya l had no idea about women's water weight problems since lve been on this site.That's a real problem for you gals I've learned..l think l know pretty much everything else about women living my life with them. l know you w/o...you eat right...no starvation fads..now that will put the weight on fast from binge eating.so I'm thinking some water weight especially from salty binge food, alcohol? not enough good carbs and did you hike first and binged afterwards, Your was used to its reg.amounts of good cals.and processed so some of the fatty food found some vacant once fatty areas and moved in.l'm feeling 7lbs of water the rest of you bought it. So I'm thinking next big hike do that last and binge first, then you will burn it out of you while your getting thirsty for water which will help flush it out. You'll made excellent progress, those aren't filler words,I've read some of your post and your young and girls want to have fun.So binge sparsely know the consequences and plan effectively afterwards but don't ever give up.Just remember why you started!! p.s. Hey Sharon, water/carb bloat looks and feels just like fat but disappears in a couple of days or sooner with some IF and extra activity. I agree it is discouraging, but unfortunately it's part of the process...remember, consistent weekly and monthly efforts will be rewarded both at the scale and at the mirror, good luck and take care!!

thanks guys...I added up my calories for the weekend and I was around 3k over maintenance so I highly doubt anything more than 1lb was real gain...we shall see. I just never gained THAT much water...jeez...We'll see by the end of the week I'll be my true weight and see how much fat I gained. Not planning any other binging any time soon that's for sure...

Depending on how much you ate, (not to be crude) but you can hold 7 pounds or more of "gut residue" if you haven't had a movement yet. Plus the water weight. I always wait until after I've done my morning business to weigh myself. Sorry if this was tmi (:

Take measurements too. One good way to see how you are progressing is by measuring yourself regularly. Even if the scale goes up and down a bit :-).

If you have an idea how much you drank between weigh-ins, try backung off the fluids a tad over the next week (remember, drink only when you're thirsty OR when you're going to be sweating soon).
