Day 5 - LCHF - Feeling Foggy (probably the lack of sleep, but maybe not)

I'm adding d3, b12, calcium, iron, vit C, and Flintstones vitamins (they don't make me burp). They are little more chalky, but almost 0 carbs!

I had not originally planned on weighing in everyday, but I wake up do my morning "business" and get dressed. And my clothes feel looser. So I take 'em off and hop on the scale. And I'm down, again! So I record it, so I can bask in the glory of sticking with my diet and doing something right.

On 8/8, it was my first day back to work after a week of vacation (visiting my mom & aunt), and I put my clothes on to go to work, and damn near couldn't fit in my jeans. I hop on the scale and see a whopping 201.6 - UGH. 200 is my breaking point, I just cannot wrap my brain around being this heavy. I hate that I have a closet FULL of clothes that I cannot wear and that I feel so shitty ALL. THE. TIME. So, I decided to do what I have done before, and count them calories. And I did, managed a lb or two no problem. Thursday while on FS I saw a post from someone talking about being down 2lbs from LCHF [I wish I could remember who so I could give them credit]. So I Google'd it. And found www.dietdoctor.com. When I watched a video about Carbohydrates and what LCHF is really all about. I was floored. It made so much sense to me. After seeing the carbs I had consumed on my "calorie counted days", I was shocked. No wonder I have so much trouble. Dietdoctor.com has a two week challenge, with a (free) pdf print out. Shopping list, recipes, and a day by day; step by step plan. I figure I can do it for two weeks; IF I'M NOT HUNGRY. That's what always gets me with calorie counting, I'm always GD hunger. I hate to be hungry, then I binge, and the day is shot. And I can honestly tell you, I am not hungry. I eat when I'm hungry, I don't have to wait for some arbitrary time or check the clock to see when I can eat again. I might be the special case but I'm down 7.8lbs since Thursday last week (My "C" day "the day I discovered LCHF). I am astonished. I'm sure it's beginners luck, or something. But wow. I'm sure it will slow down to my appropriate, steady loss as time goes on. But HOT DAMN. I'm down 9.4lbs since 8/8 - 12 days. I'm gonna go eat some deli turkey as a mid morning snack.

Thank You for the support, I hope my journey so far will help motivate someone else! You can do it, you've just got to make a plan and stick with it.

Your doing so well. I say you're one of the lucky ones and your following the rules. Keep it up! I have a closet of clothes, but they are all under a size 6. Your going to celebrate giving or selling your bigger clothes! As for being foggy, I didn't see anything in your last few days diet calender that would cause it, so maybe your just tired. I'm tied today for no reason that I can tell too.

I HAVE LOOKED INTO THE CARB DIET AND WHEN I WAS PREGNANT THEY PUT ME ON IT...TRUST ME U WOULDN'T BE HUNGRY THERE IS A LOT OF THINGS THAT ARE BARELY ANY CARBS AT ALL AND WHEN I WAS PREGNANT AND THEY GAVE ME THE LIST OF FOODS TO EAT AND A MEAL PLAN FOR A WEEK MY GOODNESS SOMETIMES I HAD TO FORCE MYSELF TO EAT IT ALL. I STAYED THE SAME WEIGHT BUT THAT WAS A GOOD THING BECAUSE I HAD BEEN SICK AND LOSING FAST. BUT IF YOU DO A 50-100 CARB DIET IT WILL MAKE YOU LOSE THE WEIGHT. REMEMBER YOU DON'T WANT TO LOSE IT TOO FAST BECAUSE IF YOU DO THAT WEIGHT WILL COME RIGHT BACK.

Most see a big drop when first starting LCHF, but don't be discouraged when it slows down -- and it will, but that's OK. Just stick with it and you will continue to lose slowly but steadily, which is better in the long run for being able to keep it off. I don't follow the "rules" as strictly as many here, but sort of pick and choose the parts that work for me and my other requirements, but I can attest to the fact that the low carb does work. Good luck!!

EVERYONE is different, don't jump in thinking you CAN lose carbs even though you might be able too. One thing at a time.

I meant to say thinking you "CAN lose eating more carbs"

Happy for you! I go on and off low carb and haven't had cravings like I used to. Even eating grilled cheese with low carb bread. I started at 201, aimed for 1 pound a week and now even my size 12 pants are baggy. You got this!

Thanks everyone! I'm sure I will slow down or stall. I don't exercise like I should (read, pretty much never), I'll probably add that once I hit the stall-wall. I'm just excited that this is working for me. Side note, my SO lost some weight too. I think totally by accident. I've got pre-measured LC snacks (egg muffins, and rolls of lunch meat, and cut veggies), and I think his late nigh snacks have been those instead of cereal and other junk we still have at the house. And on nights I prepare dinner, he has to seek out carbs & starches to add to his dinner if he wants them. He's been going without. I know he still eats carb-y lunches, but I think it's helping him a little. Little victory's!

Stay the course when things slow down (which they will)... the first three months are critical in establishing good habits and breaking bad habits. Great job on the loss to date, good luck going forward!!

with LCHF you will be hungry for 2-3 days....have a long hot bath, go for a walk, do something to get you past that time....lots of water....one lemon(juice) is 5 grams of carb.....so plain water is better. good luck... LC vegs....cabbage, cauliflower, celery.....all go nice with cheese!!!!!)

I'm thrilled for you! I know how worried you were getting started. Now you see how easy it is, how different it is, and how good it feels to see those numbers drop. I foresee a long term change in lifestyle, as you begin to see to health changes this lifestyle brings. I turned 60 this year, and I can honestly say I feel better than when I turned 40. I'm more limber, pain-free, energetic and happy. The SO coming along for the ride is a bonus!

Still doing great! We went to Applebee's for dinner. Got a burger with no bun and veggies on the side. First time I ever had an egg on a burger, OMG my new fav! Honestly, I think the bun gets in the way of the taste. Thanks for all the support; I'm really enjoying this.
