Day 5 - LCHF - Feeling Foggy (probably the lack of sleep, but maybe not)

I'm adding d3, b12, calcium, iron, vit C, and Flintstones vitamins (they don't make me burp). They are little more chalky, but almost 0 carbs!

I had not originally planned on weighing in everyday, but I wake up do my morning "business" and get dressed. And my clothes feel looser. So I take 'em off and hop on the scale. And I'm down, again! So I record it, so I can bask in the glory of sticking with my diet and doing something right.

On 8/8, it was my first day back to work after a week of vacation (visiting my mom & aunt), and I put my clothes on to go to work, and damn near couldn't fit in my jeans. I hop on the scale and see a whopping 201.6 - UGH. 200 is my breaking point, I just cannot wrap my brain around being this heavy. I hate that I have a closet FULL of clothes that I cannot wear and that I feel so shitty ALL. THE. TIME. So, I decided to do what I have done before, and count them calories. And I did, managed a lb or two no problem. Thursday while on FS I saw a post from someone talking about being down 2lbs from LCHF [I wish I could remember who so I could give them credit]. So I Google'd it. And found www.dietdoctor.com. When I watched a video about Carbohydrates and what LCHF is really all about. I was floored. It made so much sense to me. After seeing the carbs I had consumed on my "calorie counted days", I was shocked. No wonder I have so much trouble. Dietdoctor.com has a two week challenge, with a (free) pdf print out. Shopping list, recipes, and a day by day; step by step plan. I figure I can do it for two weeks; IF I'M NOT HUNGRY. That's what always gets me with calorie counting, I'm always GD hunger. I hate to be hungry, then I binge, and the day is shot. And I can honestly tell you, I am not hungry. I eat when I'm hungry, I don't have to wait for some arbitrary time or check the clock to see when I can eat again. I might be the special case but I'm down 7.8lbs since Thursday last week (My "C" day "the day I discovered LCHF). I am astonished. I'm sure it's beginners luck, or something. But wow. I'm sure it will slow down to my appropriate, steady loss as time goes on. But HOT DAMN. I'm down 9.4lbs since 8/8 - 12 days. I'm gonna go eat some deli turkey as a mid morning snack.

Thank You for the support, I hope my journey so far will help motivate someone else! You can do it, you've just got to make a plan and stick with it.

You are doing great! I didn't do much exercise my first year and the weight still seemed to fall off.....right up until I added carbs back in. I am one of those poor souls who cannot eat carbs on a daily basis or I will gain weight. I have them now and then but I know I will pack on the pounds if I do it too often. I know how you feel after you do the reading on LCHF...you feel relieved because it makes so much sense and the food is plentiful and you feel full when you eat. I started my journey at 305 on Sept 17th, 2014. It's been almost two years and I am at 184 and feeling great :). Many folks do it faster...but I'm a slow learner some days :)

If diet doctor doesn't stop the hunger try LCHF.... you need to keep carbs between 18 and 22 grams per day...on the third day the pains diminish a lot.

So happy that you have found success in addressing your health and weight issues. I do LCHF, too and have lost 75 lbs! :)

The foggy feeling could be due to electrolyte reduction. Add some Himalayan pink salt to your cooking. I also use a product called SaltStick that I bought online. When you eat this way, you lose glycogen and water from your muscles. That foggy feeling will clear right up when you rebalance your electrolytes.

my mom almost died from not consuming enough salt, she is 88 years old now and when she was in her 60's she eleminated most of the salt from diet, bad choice -she found out almost too late....she has always been a health nut and still active-we need the sodium huh?
