HCB's Journal, 11 August 2015

Greetings Best Buddies;

Well, I am the same weight on the "Idiot Box" for four weeks in a row. I am starting to have a tiny seed of frustration growing - not yet impatience really - and I realize I now am taking medications that interfere with my process.

It still sucks...tweaking my plan likely will not be effective right now so I just stay on track with exercise and food.

Words of the Week:

"I will never, never, never give up. I will be a pillar of bad-ass calm!"
I am dedicated, determined and diligent.

Yes, don't allow the Idiot Box to throw you 'off the rails' -- let body adjust to meds (wish I could offer a workaround) and release your frustration in your workouts! Get 'creative' with your NSVs . . . one of my newest ones involves squats -- I'll consider it an NSV if/when I can get through a set of 50 without my underwear riding up my crack! :)

Just think what will happen when you are done with the medicine, =)

Hang in there. The measuring tabe is more reliable than the weight scale

Hope you get off your meds soon.

Mind over matter, HCB! Do not make the meds your excuse! Think of it this way - if you weighed 130 and started taking this drug, would your weight balloon up to 178? If you think not, then you mentally override the obstacle. Consider a different approach - anything food wise that you can swap?

Remember that you KNOW you are on the right track, regardless of whether or not the scale cooperates in the near future. Just keep going on with your bad-ass calm self! :)

You may not be losing weight but you are still gaining muscle. That will make you burn more calories than fat will. When the medicine stops you will drop some quickly.

come on now.. you can do this .We are all here for ya !!

Thanks for the good words...medicine isn't an excuse...I do not make excuses. I am not gaining from the prednisone - I am maintaining. Workouts are going well - food has been eating less carbs and calories overall...so those who think I must be doing something different, or not doing something, and that is why I am stuck...that is not totally accurate to the situation. I hope I do not sound defensive - because I am not feeling that way...I just know my own body and what is happening right now. I simply needed to express the frustration today. Thank you all for the nice support!

Sorry that you are feeling frustrated. It's very understandable. Four weeks is a long time to not see that "idiot box" move. Think about it though. If you are right about the reason why, then how much might you weigh if you hadn't been so diligent and dedicated all this time? What?!?! It's a temporary situation. You will get back on track as soon as you're off the meds which is hopefully soon. You are our best cheerleader HCB. We know you got this. Your Buddies are now cheering for you!

Prednisone is a bear. My sister was 120 when she started taking it and after two months ballooned up to 150ish. She quit taking it. I take it occasionally and it causes weight gain. Not gaining while taking it is incredible! Way to go.

I know it's the prednisone. Just stay on track. We can do this.

Prednisone .... case explained. That stuff might be a miracle drug but it does have its side effects. Hang in there Miss HCB!

HCB, I kept getting stalled on my journey through the numerous bouts of pneumonia, bronchitis and poison oak thrown in for good measure thanks to the prednisone and other steroids. My doc kept telling me just keep on my plan that was working, eat healthy, make sure I was getting a little extra protein, exercise only if I was really up for it, quit if breathing was difficult or I was dizzy. Off the prednisone for a week or so the weight would start dropping. Prednisone insists that you body retains fluids. You have no control over it. You are doing terrific maintaining while taking it.
