So I'm a failure at pullups or even fake ones...tried the chin/dip machine at the gym...even that didn't work :( and I was going to try the inverted but I couldn't find the right place at the gym to try them. Perhaps next week I will figure something out. The rest of my workout wasn't bad. Just did intervals on the treadmill today for 22 mins....that was 2 miles...not bad at all.

On a side note...I tried the muscle milk light chocolate shake today....it was Nasty. And I compared the content to the Procal shakes I had been drinking...about the same....so I'm gonna stick to procal.

Lol, I could actually gulp down those Muscle Milks better than most protein shakes that I have to chug w/o taking a breath. Luckily someone pointed me in the direction of a study that found heavy metals in EAS & Muscle Milk products so it's best to stay away from them anyway ; ) Keep working on the pull up/dip assist machine, it'll get easier. I max out at about 5-6 reps & I'm using almost all the weight available to help me. Better to start somewhere than not at all.

From personal and others' experiences, pull-ups take time to work up to but it *is* possible. You just have to keep at it until you build enough strength to do it. Seems like you are determined so don't give up! I tried muscle milk once and I agree - yuck!

Wait, you tried the assisted dips/pull ups and couldn't do it? Then add more weight! It's the opposite of most weight machines. However much weight you add is how much it subtracts from your body weight. So if you want to "pull up" 20 pounds, then set it at 170 pounds (your weight - 170 =) There is some amount you can do, I am sure :) I have never been able to do a pull up and likely never will be able to. This is quite common for women. But I can certainly do assisted pull-ups! Just keep adding weight until you can do it.

Those take a lot of practice. You have to be in some bad ass shape or really strong to do that. Don't feel bad for not being able to do one. Keep working on it.

Ok...I think I know what my problem is...I didn't use enough weight. I will try it again on Wed with all the weight and see what I can do. Thanks for the info. :)

I am positive you will like it once you get the hang of the machine. I love feeling like I can "do a pull-up" even thought I can't :) It's something I've always wanted to be able to do.

2 miles in 22 minutes is pretty fast.
