atriel2's Journal, 08 October 2020

I am finally feeling human again - and also stressed, overworked, and tired.

I'm also super behind on all journal entries, losses, gains, and comments so please forgive me for anything that I have missed.

This is my busiest time of year and being a small business owner in the time of COVID and fires means that nothing is going the way that it's supposed to and everything is behind.
Totally fine. I'm going to pull a few 18-hour days and probably a 22-hour one and I'll be caught up.

I'm holding steady at 127 - I am not unhappy about this weight. The fires are finally out (fingers crossed) and I don't smell smoke anymore.
Burning leaves used to be one of my signature fall fragrances - I am no longer charmed by the smell of smoke on the air.
I'm going to cautiously try to run this weekend.
Years spent in clubs (pre-smoking ban), with badly run smoke machines, have definitely taken a toll on my respiratory system.
I miss running.

I've decided to start doing some weight training (lightly) for body sculpting.

ALSO, I was talking to a friend that said that she always failed at diets because she eventually got sick of cooking two meals.
I have always said that I'm not a short-order cook, you eat what I make or you go hungry.
Now that the girl child is in her twenties, she cooks for herself.

Do you guys cook separate meals? Or do you feed your family in the same ways you feed yourself?

A male friend pointed out that I low key sexually harass all of my female friends. And by this, he means, "Hey Amy, you gorgeous thing you! Are you working out? Your ass looks fantastic in those jeans!"
He was more upset that I didn't low key sexually harass him because he has been working out and nobody says anything to guys about that stuff.
My response was basically, "Sir, I am from the South. That is not sexual harassment, that's just good manners." and, "B2Dubs, your hair does look good. You don't even look like a caveman anymore."
He's my former guitarist. Our relationship is a little abusive.

Alright, I have now typed a novel. I'm obviously feeling better.

Have a wonderful day, guys!

Women complimenting other women on their butt is not seen as sexual or hitting on them. (Unless you’re in a LBGTQ relationship). Tell your guitarist to go practice until he sounds like Eddie Van Halen did! 😝

keep complimenting women on whatever you admire. there are too many women who drag other women down, put other women down, and don't take the time to build other women up. We need all the building up in strength we can get.

I am a BIG believer in the sisterhood of women and I compliment women ALWAYS and for EVERYTHING. @GibJig - I could but he'd laugh at me. One of his songs was featured in a car commercial, he coould care less about my opinion about his playing. Although, I've always thought he was very good. I'll never tell him that. ;)

The fam cooking thing is a legit challenge on a cut. I've got two teens and my dad who in addition to consuming a fcukton of food are on vastly different schedules. I only fall into the short order trap when I fail to adequately prepare for the week. This means shopping/prepping/cooking over the weekend. The core of this is typically cooking up a large batch of a single protein over the weekend. Two weeks ago, e.g., I smoked up 4 mini pork butts (20# total) along with some ribs for Sunday family dinner. Refrigerated the smoked pork butts whole. Each weekday morning, I set-up for the day. Pull a pork butt, throw it in the crock pot on super low and prep the rice cooker and set to start around 11:00. Similar routine this week; grilled up 25# of greek style chicken kabobs. I keep bbq sauce, hummus, feta, tzatziki, pita, tortillas, cheddar, and hot sauces in stock, so everyone can self serve bowl/pita/taco/quesadilla. Pop's the most difficult to manage, so I short order breakfast for him around noon, which is before my craves kick and task on or both of the boys with fixing him a plate fi/when he decides he wants to eat in the evening. The helps keep me out of the kitchen during crunch time, which for me starts around 3 and runs to bedtime.

That's brilliant, Jimmy. I think my friend relies on things like frozen pizzas and packaged things to get past the "short-order cook" feeling. I'm not judging, kids and schedules are hard. For myself, my family eats what I make. If they don't want it, they can make something for themselves. Luckily, the only schedule that gets hard to work around is mine.
