Posting a picture of one of the 3 bucks enjoying the shade under my deck today. The turkeys and chicks were here as well. I put a big bucket of water in the back yard area for the critters because it's about a mile down to the lake and we are in the middle of a heat wave. Need to get a brick or something for the squirrels so they can reach the water.

Eating okay today. It helps when there is nothing bad in the house to eat. Had scrambled eggs with mushrooms and onions and 2 tablespoons of shredded cheese for lunch and half a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch. That may be it for the day.

So wonderful. You are so lucky. I saw some deer while biking the other day and it was enjoyable. Such a treat to have them come to you like that. How does in work with your guarded community... Just the roads being blocked maybe? Glad you had a good day

I saw a YouTube video of a squirrel that had fallen into a plastic kiddie pool and was swimming frantically but he couldn't get out. Since they are so agile, I thought it strange that he couldn't climb out. I guess slick plastic doesn't give them any traction. (In the video a girl put a small wood chair in so he could climb out.) So be sure if you put a brick for the squirrels to hop up and drink water, that there is a way for them to get back out if they should fall in.

Thanks Mountainman and Sherry - I love my boys. They've been living here since they were fawns. They don't go far, may within 3 or 4 houses or so. The buck was walking towards me when I had the camera in my hand then backed off when he realized it wasn't a pop tart.Thanks Katsolo, Shirfleur, Melissa and Colette. Liv - the community is gated with only 2 streets in. Once the deer are in they are protected against the hunters. But some do manage to get out to the main road. But not the ones who live by my house. Thanks Diana! Josie - Last year one of the squirrels couldn't figure out how to get a drink of water so I've piled up some bricks next to the bucket. Thanks Charlie - I'm home all the time and these critters are a part of my daily life.
