Adulting sucks even at 49 years young.

Q. Guess what I am doing today?
A. Logging my calories (AGAIN)

Adulting sucks

Going to trying to shoot for an average of 1500 calories this month. I don't care if this is a low number, I just want the scale number to go down and down.

That's good you're staying on track with being healthy. My brother advised me to try out staying at 1500 calories a day, too, for some time, and it's been all right so far. My appetite has dropped way down. Keep at it--you can do it!

Just no easy way. Long term sustained portion control and good food choices. I have done this before, and here I am lost again. Fatsecret helps me see people doing well and have hope - and just as important, realize we are only humans doing our best for today.

Thanks Natalie3467 - I chose that number based on my activity levels which now is all over the place. It could be as low as 3000 steps day (sitting in a chair for 9 hrs [ I am only at 2199 with 1.5 hrs to go]) or 30,000 (When I think I am a half marathon hero like I did last Saturday) I'll keep at it. SharonEsq - I agree, I will get there with "Long term sustained portion control and good food choices" - I will check out the video you suggested when I get back home later this evening. Thanks for your input.

That's good you chose the number based on how active you are. And totally understandable how your activity levels can change. I think a lot of people's are like that--depends on the nature of the day and month. My brother gave me that number of calories per day to aim for and I try to reach it, but sometimes I go a bit over or under

Take a look at your Oct 10, 2017 journal Chest...70 days of logging and you were trending in the low 200's. Not sure what happened to derail you a bit after that but worth a look back. Logging may not be "necessary" to lose weight and keep it off but statistics indicate that it is a benefit and for some of us it is pretty key.

@Steven Lloyd - I am definitely a part of the "some of us" group - the data is invaluable and will keep me focused. Thanks. I appreciate your support over the years.

No worries Ches, if logging works for you I hope you find that logging becomes a habit as ingrained as brushing your teeth...it sure has for me, not one day missed since Aug 1, 2015...through one herniated disk (Feb, 2016), one rotator cuff injury, one bad bike crash, and my latest MCL injury (Dec 3, 2019) it has been instrumental to keeping me on track....as well as the usual daily, weekly, monthly ebbs and flows in intake vs output. I figured out early after watching a few successful long term folks here on FS, that if logging works for them it could work for me...
