baskington's Journal, 21 November 2018

I thought I would share this article on a one year study of diabetes management. this was a highly monitored and supported study with 2 different diet plans. One was low carb kenetic diet and one regular diet. the results were an overwhelming success for the low carb with most after a year having a great reduction medications to no medications for the low carb group.

it is a longer article and more details on the tail end of the article

When I knew I had the symptoms of T2 I knew I had a choice of going low carb or taking medicine like other family members. It was really that simple.

yes I know you are well informed and made the right decision for you Adef. I am just glad to see a "real" well documented year long study done and proven to succeed. It goes a long way to helping educating others of their options and hopefully catch some old school doctors eyes.

After you lose the weight, does your body adjust & no longer need to stay on a strict diet?

@srossca - For me, I can now handle 'more carbs', but when I 'carb too high' the symptoms return (cracked feet, numb limbs, high fasting glucose levels, dizziness, vision problems). I think it is best to call it a 'treatment' not a 'cure'. The problem I have with taking insulin as a 'treatment' is that you have to keep upping the dose. Metformin is now the 'go to' drug but its purpose is to increase your insulin response to what you eat, but, you may have the choice to simply not eat so many carbs :) Now, everyone may not have that option. I can only pull it off by not eating solid food for days at a time. So if a person cannot help eating carbs it is a logical solution. I chose a different way.

just like many diseases srossca, they only go into remission not a total cure. If they want to stay off damaging medications they need to continue low carb eating. I am sure some will heal more to be able to have higher carbs long term, but just like my allergies the problem never goes away, just have a great quality of life if you avoid what makes you sick.

Srossca I think exercise also helps.
