with the blood meter readings of low glucose at morning fasting level and glucose dropping near the end of the day 3pm, it seems that part of what I have been feeling is all about my blood sugar. This may answer a lot of my concerns about weird symptoms I have had for years. This is not something new for me, just unknown what it was all about. I work up at 2;30 again even though I overate last night. I was so excited about finding a possible cause that I did not pay attention to how much I was eating. I was a little over my calories for the day. The calories did not last past the 9 hour mark and I needless to say woke up needing water and could not get back to sleep.

I ate almost immediately this morning. I did not feel bad but I knew my blood sugar was low. 45 minutes later I checked my glucose and ketones. 4.2 glucose and 1.9 ketones. It takes an hour after I eat to get the full raise on my blood sugar. over the coarse of the next 6 hours I expect it to level out and stay in the 4.5 to 4.9 range. I am definitely and have been in ketosis for a long while and I would think my keytones should be feeding my body and not have these things going on. Exercise in the past has normally made me feel better with these symptoms. Today I am going to make sure I eat within my normal preferred times. I like to eat at 3pm at the latest and it seems that is the time my blood level drops from breakfast. then make sure I have a good sized snack before bed to carry me through the night.

Tomarrow If I have a good night, I will experiment with exercise before breakfast and see if that pushed my body to use the ketones. Past experience with feeling better after exercise to be explored with science!

What happens if exercise doesn’t bring the ketones up? Would you have to add in a little processed sugar to get it up at times when it generally falls too low? Can that be done and keep you in ketosis? In school I would feel faint weak and get the shakes. A nice lady my friend and I would stop to visit was diabetic. She checked me once and said I was low normal and I had a snickers about an hour before and was drinking a coke at the time. She was under the impression that I probably had low blood sugar. I never checked into it then as we didn’t have insurance and if I have issues now I just eat something. My blood tests always show 94-99 when I’ve only had coffee with Splenda and mostly when I had a coke. Once was 104 after I’d eaten before. Effects on blood sugar interest me 🙂.

Blood sugar spikes are very interesting. There's a lot of variations (which shows just how differently each of our bodies react to food). I haven't tested mine very often. Mostly ketones. I couldn't map out a set pattern at all. Up and down within the same 2.5-4.5 range almost the entire time I was testing. I got really sick of poking myself LOL

I really think you are on to something with this. That is why I measure my blood sugar.

Dawnie, my BG meter generally shows a range of 75 to 100, what scale is your calibrated to that you get readings 4.2 to 4.9? When I test for ketones, I also test BG so I only do one "poke" (two different strips, same meter).

Mool/l versus mg/dl My ketones are 2.5-4.5 but the bs was 3.6-5 (high 60s to high 90s).

My bs is much lower and much more steady now than when I first tested after eating when I started keto (before I started fasting). I think that shows how much healing I have accomplished.

Sure hope you find something that helps you get a good night's sleep on a consistent basis! Have fun with your science!!

Peerperjj I just eat. it takes about 40 minutes for the food to take care of it and now that I know about it I can eat to offset the effect. I felt better after exercise today but needed to eat earlier. I ate lighter this morning and knew I was probably going to need to eat earlier so I was prepared. I waited until a couple hours after exercise and tested my blood and it was going down again. lit the grill and 10 minutes later I was eating. I could have some emergency stash for when I miss it. this is all new to me.

crash I am pretty much getting over this poking too, but I need to figure this out. I have had issues for decades and I think this is getting more advanced. This night thing is progressing. I am eating more and this really should not be going on. after lunch I got sleepy. it might be from my new magnesium supplement. I have had it for a while but just got to the container. it is extremely potent.

thanks Nikeit, I think the new magnesium supplement may be taking care of that. I don't absorb well and this one is a highly potent form and I added it to my water.

Yes Adef this is all a learning experience for me. I have never had issues this pronounced before so I need to get on top of it and get a good fix going. been doing my research so if it continues like this I will have a track record for the doctor. I checked my lab work and as I guessed the ac1 was 4.9 normal range for fasting

Interesting times. Cracking health puzzles. Notice sleep is back to good, since I started using the bicycle again. During that very wet and grey period, sleep was a bit frustrating.

thanks Draglist it varies through the day but generally stays in the 1.3 to 1.5 range.

yes Diddlee finding this issue after it was missed by the doctors over the years is certainly an eye opener. And I think it varies back and forth. This is new that it is so strongly hitting me. But I have a cure for that, eat more often. funny I started wanting to eat breakfast recently which I normally don't do. I have always liked eating dinner at 3, just my natural clock I guess.

baskington With you on not doing late meals. Whenever I have a late meal, I wake up sleepy and curse myself. When going to sleep with an empty stomach, I wake up fresh and in good mood. So it is self regulating to some degree.
